The Deep Sea and Dive bells

  • Salutations Me Hearties,

First off, let me thank you for taking the time to open this bad boy up and read this poorly written ramble script dedicated to a piece of my imagination. And Secondly, let me just say that my friends and I absolutely L O V E this game! We've spent countless Saturdays and Sundays waking up early in the morning just so we can all hop on together to sail and plunder the day away doing Calypso knows what.

Now, one of the things that I've noticed is just how lucrative shipwrecks could be. With all of the stocked barrels on board full of cooked fish, cannonballs, planks, firebombs, etc. I mean, it definitely cuts down the gathering time on walking around
the islands when you just want to fast track right into sailing and plundering! They have become quite the staple in my routine whenever I log on. It was actually during one of these shipwreck dives where I had an epiphany on a potential game expansion.....

Now before I go too far off the rails here, let me just preface this as the tip of the iceberg. I could easily make this into a 5 page paper on all the potential cosmetics, quests, voyages, lore expansions and world ideas that coincide with this too. What if the devs came out with a particular feature where you could either buy a deep sea dive bell for your ship, or sail to deep sea post (much like the fishing/hunter sea-posts spread throughout the map) to use said dive bell to dive down to the ocean floor for sunken treasure!

I mean come on, how many times have you guys tried to swim all the way down to see just how deep the ocean goes in-game? Or have tried to swim out of the kraken ink far enough to swim down so you could catch a glimpse of the legendary creature itself? I could see this particular project sparking a wildfire of creativity and content within the SOT community. Whether it be introducing a series of deep sea maps, interactions with the mermaids, new types of mermaid themed treasure, New deep sea Bio-luminescent creatures to fight/interact with, etc. Not to mention a chance to really see what sort of beautiful ocean floor landscape the developers and artists could put together......

Again, this is just a thought that was sparked from my fascination of diving into the shipwrecks. I think there is so much more potential to be tapped into when it comes to the deep blue sea.....

What do you guys think? What sort of ideas come up when you think of something like this? I'd love to hear about them!

  • @emdeakin DUDE! This is an awesome suggestion!

  • @emdeakin imagine the mad rush to get back to the bell because your lookout saw sails on the horizon and needs to haul you up. Would be interesting strategy-wise on a galleon with a full crew to decide how many stay aboard and how many go under in the bell, especially if haul-in were to be team based like the anchor. And who knows what monsters lie in the deep, hidden for centuries in Davy Jones' locker...
