In-Game Competent Crew Finder.

  • Id rather jump into SOT straight away and have a way to join a crew without being randomly matched with totally mute players, really young players, noobs and trolls.

A good way would be to utilise the tavern.
    Make a private back room.
You walk into a lobby and can chat to people.

You have an enlisting emote which is a handshake or something or clanking two grogs together.

Soon as you all leave the your crew vote on a ship type and enter adventure mode.

Arena has a lobby too at seadogs.
Think of it as having a private drink before you compete but this timr its with a full crew of people you are happy with.

This “Private room” you can come and go as you please.
Meaning if you walk through the door when you are in a crew, you essentially leave them. This means you could join crews and stay with them for 1 adventure then find another crew to join for some new gameplay....kinda like how some sailors did.
Plus it means if you fancy going solo or even change your ship that will work too.

Quite a few nice features with such a simple idea.

BTW im fully aware of discord and the xbox crew finder thingy.
My suggestion is just to have something like this in-game, its better to be interacting in the SOT game drinking grog than staring a screen waiting for a post you like.

  • I think an in-game method of finding friendly crews or players to join your crew would be cool. My only suggestion is to make sure you can't be killed in this one area. It would defeat the purpose if everyone is in there killing each other rather than recruiting each other.

    Of course.
The room is not in the actual game world. The mysterious stranger guards the door and speaking to him puts you into this “Room”.

Its a way in which you can come and go from a lobby with lots of potential crew and the real game world.

Perhaps even have a few games in there for social fun.
Even a few tables where a Roleplaying captain can try and entice someone to follow him or her.
