Hi,
I am recently thinking to move from PC to Xbox One (X or S) - second child on the way and I need to move from my "gaming room :(" heh
Three questions:
1- Can I move my character with all achivments from PC to Xbox (about 500 hours) ?
2. I would like to play with support of keyboard and mouse - how this is working currently ?I heard it looks bad - movement is laggy.
3. X or S - I am only intrested with smooth/fluent gaming - do not care about look - will I get only 30 fps on S and 60 fps on X ?
Thanks in advance !

Yes... dead simple... all linked to your account.
- I would like to play with support of keyboard and mouse - how this is working currently ?I heard it looks bad - movement is laggy.
I'm a controller guy, just what I'm used to. Use the keyboard for text chat only. I would say it is probably still tricky enough, not the smooth experience you maybe after. No doubt someone else will have a better review of current state.
- X or S - I am only intrested with smooth/fluent gaming - do not care about look - will I get only 30 fps on S and 60 fps on X ?

X owner myself. The X is advertised as 4K 60fps, The S is 1080p 60fps, where available. I upgraded from the S earlier in the year to the X, added an external SSD for games, is now a great beast. But the S is still a very good option.
@pachetskin82 Craggy has answered almost everything but I have used KB + M on the XBOX.
I found it hard to use, but that could just be the fact that in the living room it is hard to be comfortable playing KB+M compared to the controller.
Best thing to do is try it out, but I had no lag issues at all. Best part of it was custom messages! ;P[EDIT] I would also go for whichever console fits your needs wit a baby on the way - I have never upgraded from the OG XBOX and I'm more than happy - but if 4K is where it's at for you and you can afford it - go X!

Wrong...all consoles, X and S, have 30fps
Ah ha... there we go!.
Was a little uncertain as of my last post.
It is advertised as 60fps pretty much ( for a limited number of games )
Not SoT apparently, and majority of games. (so... where available)@piratecraggy said in Transition from PC to XBOX ONE:

Pretty much the same on S and X...almost stable, depending on the server...

Thanks in advance !K&M on Xbox is not that great very laggy compared to PC which is to be expected also you won’t get 60fps on Xbox one X I don’t think this game runs at a stable FPS on console(just my exp).
@piratecraggy that’s wrong because this game doesn’t run at a stable FPS on console with any resolution.
I've got from XBOX One to XBOX One X and now i play Sea of Thieves on PC.
I've got to say that playing on PC is a far better experience than anything on XBOX though. On PC initial load times are shorter, coming back from the Ferry of the Damned is quicker, mouse and keyboard controls are also better than a controller, and the FPS on PC a lot better (PC dependent) than on XBOX.
I actually found the game more playable on the non one X XBOX, the frame rate seemed more stable at 1080p with no HDR.
Personally I would see playing it on XBOX now as a big downgrade, just my thoughts though.

Can I switch off the HDR ? So still I can benfit it on other games and not lose the FPS with SOT ?
I think HDR is a setting on the One X, and not in game.
So you'd have to turn it off for the whole One X just for Sea of Thieves, then turn it back on when you want it on for another game. I could be wrong though as I haven't played it on One X for a few months now. Also i'm not sure if HDR affects the frame rate or if its just that the One X can't handle 4k in Sea of Thieves to well. I do know that HDR on One X makes the game unplayable when its night in game, especially in the wilds.

Which part? ...lol.
Runs pretty smoothy for me XBox for the most part, fps seems fine to me at the limited 30fps ( or there abouts ).
Would rather have the fps any day over resolution granted.
So.... On my PC runs pretty nice... 80/90fps.
As you know depends what you are after...etc.Edit: If I do tend to have issues,
It either is by what appears at the time as a "sluggish server"... or a poor momentary "internet connection".
Not something which I can directly blame the hardware on. It is more apparent with SoT... than with other titles that I play, so ... yeah... I've noticed that. Stability can be a little rocky. It does happen, not too often thankfully.@aglasgowthing said in Transition from PC to XBOX ONE:

K+M isn't laggy per se, what you are "feeling" is a result of the 30FPS cap.
Naturally any control method will feel that bit more responsive with a higher FPS and refresh rate, just as a controller would at 60FPS +
Basically, it's not because its xbox, it's because its 30FPS at best, don't forget that the S will have common dips below 30FPS as rare insisted on punching up with the graphics settings and choosing not to opt for better performance.
This is why console in my view needs a performance mode that offers 60FPS.
@pachetskin82 I wish you the best of luck on your transition of systems and I hope you still enjoy the seas as we all do.
@aglasgowthing said in Transition from PC to XBOX ONE:
@troubled-cells lol the k&m is defo laggy regardless, it is because of the lower frame rate of course thought that was obvious
Try and tell the opt out discussions that though lol
It's the same respone as if i was playing at 30FPS on PC.
So it's not laggy in comparison, it's actually as it should be for the settings applied.
It's not like you can improve that response at the applied frame rate of 30FPS.

My body is ready!
In my experience, the KB/Mouse for SoT on Xbox is fine, the issue is the frame rates. I'm using an Xbox One X btw. As stated above, the frame rates are very inconsistent, and you will notice. If you are used to a certain level of gaming, you will be disappointed. Sure, you'll adjust eventually, but maybe you should look at other options?
Just a suggestion: get a gaming laptop. For example, you can get the Acer Predator Helios 300 for around $1,000 I believe. Maybe more than an Xbox/KB/Mouse combo, but certainly a much better gaming experience for someone who is already a PC gamer.
Good luck!

I'd even go as far to suggest a few tweaks to his current PC setup if it works fine, just adapt a few things so that it gives ease of access for the living room.
Small form factor case if possible? Third party front end to consolidate all installed games from different platforms in one place. Wireless peripherals etc.
Would be much more cost effective than purchasing a laptop for gaming.

SoT is beautiful on the X and a very stable and smooth 30fps (I have SSD FWIW)
Would be even more beautiful if it ran at 1080p 60fps

There is no moving, it just works. You will log on to the xbox with the same microsoft account you have been using on the PC and your pirate is there.

The polling of keyboard/mouse is the same as a controller (125hz), so you will not get the speed of a pc for input, it just isn't capable. Make sure the mouse isn't mismatched like Corsair's original issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCGAx_3_KSE

Expect significantly longer load times is the most important bit.Unless he is smart enough to invest in a quality external drive - such as a 7200RPM hard drive or a SSD. I have a Day 1 Xbox One with an 7200RPM drive and NEVER have long load or respawn times, most are consistent with what PC users are saying they get.
Loading/Respawn time comparison:
(Will be updating to add new m.2 nvme drive times when next PC finished)

Okay, expect longer load times unless you invest in a p2w sdd hard drive lol.LOL, try READING the whole comment as I also mentioned a 7200RPM hard drive which are not expensive by any means. With the size of games an external drive is pretty much a necessity for ANY user that has a decent collection, doesn't want to waste time managing games on the drive, or use up bandwidth downloading games repeatedly because they are scrounging for space.
