Plank removal from fixed deck(s)

  • I think removing planks from recently fixed deck(s) should be a thing. Make new action "Remove plank" and make it slower than putting a plank and it should make the smallest possible hole on deck(new sound for that action would be also nice). I think this would make pirates more protective to their ship and always if possible leave one guy on ship. It's just my opinion and what I would like to see in the game.

  • @ficoks I like this idea. It sounds balanced if it's only a small hole that remains after removing the plank and if it's only a recently placed plank. It would make sense to be able to remove them, would give players a way to make holes into a ship w/o the need of gunpowder barrel or cannon balls, while still not being super obnoxious.

  • This is a terrible idea on 4 fronts.

    1. It punishes crews for keeping their ship afloat which-

    2. Encourages scuttling your ship so that people can't-

    3. Silently sink your ship while you're on an island with no skill, meaning that-

    4. Someone has to miss out on all the fun because they have to stay and watch the ship.

  • @wilbymagicbear First why would you scuttle ship if u have tons of loot on board and you are not alone on the seas so you don't have all time in the world to just spam scuttle(time waste because u can always get holes at any time). You can always lose your ship silently(ex. I raise anchor and crash your ship into an island). Miss the fun? Making friendship with other crew members is fun. When u do forts u always leave 1 guy on ship so you don't get surprised by any other hostile pirates. On athena quest u always leave 1 guy on ship so you don't get surprised by pace22 launching from his sloop. As I said you have longer action and sound so you can hear plank removing and also you get the smallest hole possible. I know it's your opinion but your statement is not true.

  • @ficoks His statements are true and is not an opinion. Yours, on the other hand, is a blanket assumption of how you think others play - which just isn't always the case.

  • If you want to remove planks, use a canonball. There are already benefits to boarding an enemy ship, no need to add more.

  • It’s cool but too abusive

Good Lord. It encourages scuttling after selling. Crashing a ship is nosiy and very visible. Most people don't leave guards, as guarding is boring as he(l)l. You can't hear the plank being removed from off ship.

  • What's to stop your own crew from doing it and griefing you in the process?

  • If I were a carpenter, ... but as a pirate, I don't carry my carpenter's tools to an enemy ship, I prefer to do this with weapons in my hands.
