  • Hey everyone,
    I had some ideas i want to share with you all.

    Before we start:
    -I apologize for my english, which is not perfect.
    -Similar ideas might have been posted by someone else before, i dont know that.
    -I did not want to sort the topics, bcs of lazyness.
    -A few topics only make sense if you read the whole thing.

    1: Safe Zone
    Remember Tortuga?
    A central hideout for all factions and pirates, a hidden island village, the biggest tavern, all the shops (no companies-traders), a harbor for your ship, a few games in which you can win or loose gold.

    For this to work, the island would have to be in a kind of parralel world where weapons and cannons can not be used.

    Things we could do there:
    -Chat with people.
    -Buy yourself new clothes or other stuff.
    -Drink Grog together and party hard.
    -Show them your ship.
    -Games!

    Games, a way to pass the time or settle a dispute. With bets! Pirates want gold.
    -Arm wrestling.
    -Card game. (Black Jack?)
    -1 on 1 pistol-duel in a shooting range.
    -Crew saber fight
    -A drunken race!
    -Parcour (drive a parcour with your ship and shoot targets)

    2: Enemies
    We need more enemies, more weird opponents. What about the British?
    Instead of skeletons, other enemies would be nice.
    Can also be well connected with voyages.

    -Enemies with a touch of the british, the spanish or the french navy.
    -Ghosts, pirate legends and crew who never find peace.
    -Cursed pirates who morphed into fishlike creatures (not mermaids) and haunt shipwrecks.
    -Not necessarily enemies, but we need more animals on land, maybe some who fight back?
    -Mermaids, we should be able to hunt them. We are pirates.
    -Big mutated animals on land and in caves.

    3: Kraken
    The Kraken is cool and all, but what about a gigantic crab appearing in the fog and picking people from the ship?
    In addition, it would be really good if the octopus would drop a box when he dies. (fried calamari anyone?)

    4: Food
    Lower the healing value of bananas and add more food!
    Instead of going on a chicken-killingspree we could go fishing (new item, fishing rope!), find rare hard tacks (sea biscuits) and maybe the legendary kraken drops some of his tasty calamari rings!
    The harder to get, the more health it gives.
    What about a chest we need to fill with kraken-rings and bring it to the merchant alliance? Money.

    5: Dropping Loot
    A killed pirate should drop a small amount of gold, so that he thinks before he acts.
    But, the more players you kill, the more ships you wreck, the higher the bounty on your head and the more gold you drop.
    (The amount should be very small so that no one breaks his neck on this.)

    6: Bulletin Board Events
    Bounty:
    Once every few hours, the pirate with the highest bountys get a wanted poster + name on the bulletin board on each outpost and gets tracket every now an then.
    If a pirate kills this wanted pirate, he gets a price from the bulletin board guy.
    If the wanted pirate survives the phase, he gets the price!

    (Sound familiar? I copied it from gta.)

    Scavenger Hunt:
    Every few hours a scavenger hunt appears on the bulletin board and gives you a hint where to find the next hint, which will someday lead to the great treasure. But every participating crew searches the same treasure this time!

    7: Kill-Feed
    No world-wide Killfeed, only between your crew and their crew. I want to know who i destroyed.
    (also helps identify cheaters.)

    8: Report
    Please insert a button that leads me directly to the report form.

    9: Grenades
    Nothing extreme, just stink bombs that blur the view and makes them move slow.

    10: Visibility
    Please increase the visibility of players on ships, so we see what they are doing.
    And please decrease the visibility of names, so we dont get spotted that easy under water.

    11: Ships
    (A new ship was revealed recently, but i still want to share my idea about the ships with you.)

    The Sloop, 1 mast, 2 cannons, 1-2 players. (stays like it is)
    The Brigg, size betweed the sloop and galleon, 2 masts, 4 cannons, 2-3 players.
    The Galleon, 3 masts, 6 cannons (looses 2!), 3-4 players.
    The Barquentine, fkn big, 4 masts, 8 cannons, 4-5 players.

    (If we could customize the interior and cannons, that would be great too!)

    12: Shiploot
    Everyone knows the struggle, we need more cannon balls, but we cant leave the raid without loosing the advantage.
    After an shipfight, the barrels containing bananas, cannon balls and planks should float back to the watersurface like chests, so we can loot them.

    13: Map
    I know there will be a new part to the sea for +50, but an enlargement oft he standard sea would be great too!

    (also good for my raid idea, further down.)

    14: Dinghy Boats
    Yesterday we fought two other galleons over a skull raid. They were stubborn and kept coming back, which lead to an lack of resources on our ship, which finally got us killed.

    Do not get me wrong here, we enjoyed the fights and stuff, but a little more time for the raid itself would be much better.

    I know the ships spawn now a little more further away, but i have an better idea!

    Dinghy Boats!
    A rowing boat with 4 seats that can be controlled by one person. (like a gondolier)
    You can tie the boat to your ship, either pull it behind you or tie it to the side like a lifeboat.
    You can use it as you like, transport people, treasures or go on a sightseeing-tour.

    And if your ship sinks!...
    Instead of spawning with the ship (as we are used to), we spawn with the dinghy and have to row to a shipwright in order to get a new ship.
    If you are brave enough, go with the dinghy to a raid!
    If there will be a bigger ship with a deeper draft, the dinghy would be perfect for transfering your treasures, its faster than swimming.

    15: Crewchat
    A chat, exclusively for your crew.
    So no one else hears, how fkd up you really are.

    16: Story
    No, not a complete storymode.
    A quest that sends you on a legendary journey, telling you the story of whatever, and with progress of the journey, more and more about the story gets revealed and ultimately leads to a rare treasure that can not be sold, but decorates your ship and shows everyone what you capable of.

    (Cooler stuff than just the cosmetics, maybe adds a figurine into the captains cabin, or gives you a funny statue of Davy Jones somewhere on the ship!)

    17: Raids
    Here i want to get into different types of raids, not the whole system, but the art of locations.
    If we insert other AI-enemies like spanish, ghosts, mystical creatures etc… we can give them a home and go raid it!

    -Stoneforts, like navy bases oft he spanish.
    -Mystical islands on the back of a floating sea turtle.
    -Really big and cursed ships with ghosts on them.
    -Underwater ruins with fishpeople!

    (These could only spawn for a raid instead of being permanent on the map.)

  • I really like the "Tortuga" island idea for minigames and such. I do not like the idea of safe zones, I think safe zones will make the game less "free". If you get to know a crew good enough, they prob wont kill you and if they do, you know you can't trust them :P I think the oppertunity to be betrayed/betray others make the game more pirate alike.

  • @der-taran you say you haven’t read the forums but this does feel like a kind of compilation, not to detract from it but a lot of these have been made before, and point 10 was actually confirmed in the latest video they (Rare) released.

    I am mostly against a pve server over a pvp server but i do like your ‘Tortuga’ social hub idea, i promised myself never to speak its name again but ‘the tower’ in Destiny was a great example of the kind of thing i imagined. Minigames would be awesome, arm wrestling and whats that game they play with a knife, gradually speeding up stabbing it between the fingers, that would fit into the world well. Can’t remember its name though lol.

    The reason behind the safe-zone:
    It is intended to meet new people, if weapons would be available there, there would always be campers and people would stop going there.

    But yes, safe-zones would limit the freedom, for that reason there should be only one safe-zone without the possibility to sell your chests/skulls etc.

    I do not have much to do with the forum, but my ideas are nothing special that no one else could have come up with. I am sure that there are also a ton of other good ideas.

    Bare in mind not all are controversy free and easy to implement but still a good post.

    Defenitely would love to see tortuga, floating barrels with supplies and fishing!

  • @der-taran i wasn’t negating what you said, i was confirming it if anything. imo its a good post, its basically what Rare do with the megathreads.
