  • Or...Accept your free win, free max exp, and free streak?

  • @burnbacon it gets boring after versing the same person loss farming on repeat + i dont care about the wins

  • i imagine loss farmers kinda take the fun out of it for people who just want honest well earned competition. but the cheater problem is far worse than people taking the slowest path to a curse as possible, especially when you can just cheese defense mode on a pve server for a slightly faster, yet still slow due to lack of streak path, removing rep from losing would mean people dont play at all because then for half of the participants its just a waste of time. just like spawn camping an enemy and sailing them out of bounds robs the loser of match progress, rep, progress. or it used to anyway. shame on rare if they havent changed that yet because its a valid strategy for victory but makes the game feel awful for the xbox user being spawn camped by a pc user. but at least they got carebear mode to turn off cross platform.

if you want people to stop loss farming in hourglass? the solution.... 100% serious... remove hourglass. problem solved. it worked for arena. i just wish it dawned on me that obviously the removal of the arena meant pve discords were probably running arena servers to farm out the commendations / achievements before it was gone. the number of people out there who probably have cheesed arena rewards... granted only a doze if that many still even play lol

  • The way to fix this is to make losing without really fighting at all be worth the least amount, have winning be the max amount, and a sliding scale based on hits, pirate kills, repairs, buckets, etc... so that trying to win rewards the time investment.

The reason loss farming is popular is because it takes the least amount of time for the same reward as putting up a fight and losing anyways. Removing all allegiance from losing just makes the mode less appealing and more frustrating.

  • After losing 5 games in a row (under a certain timeframe) the system should withhold EXP unless there's a win. This isn't permanent, however, and after a certain period of time it resets and allows another 5 games to be lost in a row while still giving exp.

  • What level are you? Cause once you get high leveled in hourglass its rare you see loss farmers. Normally it's people just trying to get their curses only. Im a daily HG player and maybe during a community weekend I see one if I actually get matched with a low level person.

  • @elmo6842 Im on oce so its different

  • i imagine loss farmers kinda take the fun out of it for people who just want honest well earned competition.

No such thing as honest and fun battles in hourglass. Everyone has a complaint about something.

Once the lose farmers have gotten what they want, they will quit and the pool of players will shrink.

  • @kaekss

I do think they should get rid of rewarding XP for a loss. BUT, only if they moved forward with something that I've proposed before.

I'll just copy and paste that idea below. This would be the most tactful way of rewarding players for participating in hourglass and encouraging effort even if you're often on the losing end...

I think they could do daily deeds that boost faction progression as well as weekly/monthly/seasonal trials that boost faction progression...similar to how the deeds/trials (used to) work to boost seasonal renown

Daily deeds could be something relatively simple and give the equivalent boost of about one win's worth of faction leveling. This would give those casual players that are doing a lot more losing than winning the feeling of progression as they put effort into battles. Here's some quick ideas...

    • Participate in 3 faction battles
    • Hit opposing ships with cannonballs (x20)
    • Send an opponent to the Ferry of the Damned
    • Take down the mast of an opposing ship
    • Repair your ship during battle (x10)
    • Bucket water during battle (x10)
    • Play a shanty as your ship sinks
    • Have a seat as your ship sinks
    • Take a trip to the Ferry of the Damned (x5)

That's just a start...There's a million different things they could do to make it fun and make it so that the casual players can feel accomplished after a session of effort in faction battles.

Weekly/Monthly/Seasonal trials could be more challenging and/or combine a lot of the daily deeds ideas and provide ~1-2 wins worth of faction leveling.
