Captained ships keeping supplies

  • I think if you're gonna punish us for our boat being in tatters and having to repair it with money then we should be rewarded with keeping our supplies once you log off. For example, if i were to log off after selling and i am an at an outpost or reaper's etc, then all supplies on my ship, in barrels, storage crates, you get the point. I'm making this suggestion because i hate the boring start and waste of money every time i load into the game having to buy supplies and captaincy then maybe loot a sea fort for more just to play a few hours then lose all like 500 cannonballs and wood and 30 pineapples

  • If you end the session with 100s of planks and cannonballs, did you really need to spend time looting sea forts etc?

Most people run in adventure already, even more if they spent days collecting supplies.

  • I know on the surface it might seem like a good idea and would help save time, but i really don't think anyone would want high skill crews having near infinite supplies all the time.

  • @spiderleopard7 you don't have to repair it? I don't remember the last time i repaired a boat since it's really a disadvantage

  • As much as I hate finishing a session with supplies there are a few issues with keeping supplies between sessions.

    1. Balance. Good players get so many curse balls etc they become very hard to beat.
    2. this would require keeping track of a ton of information and coordinating between regions.
    3. avenue for hackers to add supplies.
  • having to repair it with money

Wait, your forced to repair it? Might wanna send a ticket. You shouldnt be forced too

hate the boring start and waste of money every time i load into the game having to buy supplies

Again: You. The Player. DO not have to go down this road, your not forced or compelled to purchase supplies at any given moment. (Cheap supplies mind you)

or more just to play a few hours then lose all

If your idea is to play a few hours and mass supply your ship...that game breaking if it were kept and very silly it to be lost once you sink! Which happens more often.

My crew and I were almost done for the night, and we had something like 127 chainshots. This galleon comes over to fight us, and we decided we were going to use all our chainshots on them. It was hilarious as they kept yelling at us where we kept getting so many.

Now imagine how much we'd have at the end of the month, if we'd been allowed to save everything?

  • This kind of change would only need to occur post-gold reset. You get 50,000 gold literally just for logging in each update, they run xp and gold multiplier modifiers every other week as well as stuff like mega stashes which in the last season would award 1.5 million gold for doing a 20 minute fort.

That to say the idea that you are punished and need to repair your ship is nothing; its like 5-10k and there's no reason to actually ever do it unless you're taking a picture of your ship.

I would imagine the average short session would net a player a minimum of 30k if they are doing things seeking a gold pay-out, or are at risk of being attacked, as such I don't think the price of captained supplies is of any concern either. Unless you sink every 5 minutes and never make money and need to keep buying supplies you should be completely fine. Likewise you can always just not buy supplies and supply up from a sea fort or regular fort; which is what everyone did during season 6 or prior to season 6 respectively. Or just buy a merchant storage crate and loot the outpost.

Buying captain supplies + merchant supplies + sea fort supplies is absolute overkill unless you intend on stacking FoTD like 4 times and incur considerable risk of fights for extended periods of time. They are about to add supplies for Hourglass in the next few weeks so it won't be an issue for hourglass. Likewise you could always vote hourglass to get supplies, win that one fight and then lower hourglass sand play as normal. You absolutely do not need 500 cannonballs and 30 pineapples for regular gameplay.

As i said at the start I could see something like saving a small amount of supplies being a perk of captained ships but only after a massive rework to captaincy, gold economy and possibly guilds; but this will likely never actually come; as such it is just not needed in the current state of the game.

  • @fry9889 yeah my hg brig would have like 3 billion cannons and infinite chains, definitely make any match so we'd sit at the edge of cannon range just mortaring the shots at them

  • @burnbacon yeah, I drop 20k at the beginning of an hg session and that's it, maybe 5 minutes, you can make the 20k back in 2 matches

I posted this similar thing a while back. 100% agree, but maybe get rid of cursed balls and special throwables like bone callers.
