In the absence of missions being available from the Hunter's Call, I was thinking it would be interesting to add an NPC controlled fishing trawler vessel that represents the faction. It is pretty weird after all that the ocean is completely dead sometimes, with the exception of the random skeleton ship(s) in the distance. This world can't exist without trade, and I don't believe for a second that the player base fulfills the needs of this world!
The first reason I think this would make the game interesting is that it would be an opportunity to add a non-skeleton, non-mermaid combat-type NPC to the ocean. You could treat them as friend or foe.
- Board their ship and casually fish with the NPCs. Receive some passive benefits such as multiple cooktops for cooking, and perhaps a generally higher rate of catching valuable fish.
- Alternatively you could attack the ship and aggro them. Sink the ship for some random fish prize. Not necessarily in the player's best interest, but this is a game full of pirates.
We need more helpless civilian fishermen on the ocean, and I also think that the psychology of attacking a 'human' target might save some of the more docile PVE players from the wrath of someone who just wants to sink anything that's not a skeleton.
More on-sea interactions, more NPC types, more Hunter's Call updates! These factions need to get off their lazy butts.
