Okay, so the idea is to solely promote exploration. So.…
- A basic reputation increase is given per island you visit,
- Upon visiting an island, you get access to a new more detailed map of that island when interacting with the map table.
- when you click on the island the world map is replaced with a gold-hoarders style map you can zoom into.
- Further reputation is gained in this faction hand-in-hand with gold hoarder riddle quests and discovering cave paintings etc and upon completion you obtain a small marker on the map to mark a place of interest.
- outside of gold-hoarder missions, you'd have a paper and pen in the inventory wheel where you could mark your latest find and if it's relevant, you'd get a "congratulations you've discovered a place of interest". message
- any discoveries you make have to reported to the Cartographers guild to obtain your reputation gain in that area and retain the information on your more detailed map.
- "uncharted" islands would become "chartered" upon discovery... I mean come on, we'd be stupid pirates not to keep note.
instead of reputation it would be a % to complete, (I normally hate these but in this case I think it could work) This could scale as new areas become available
- Detailed maps would just be available to the pirate who had discovered the most, but you could "show each other"
- you could introduce new "hidden" areas this way without telling the community causing a buzz of excitement. Where is this new place? is it a hidden cave? an underwater place? etc etc.
- The tall tale tales could also add to this... I've not complete the Tall tales but if you were aiming for 100% exploration I'm assuming you'd have to.
