I am currently watching the Weekly Stream. I have put some extensive thought into this. Please consider and read through. Below are suggested Damage and Tidal Wave elements.
1. Tidal Waves that would affect ships a certain way depending upon how you manage your ship. The Mast would have 10 Damage Points before it is crippled
A. Tidal Wave Broadsiding: 10 Damage (Mast Completely crippled)
B. Tidal Wave Non-Broadside hit: 3 Damage
C. Mega Keg:
----Direct Hit (Next to Mast): 10 Damage (Cripple Effect)
----Non-Direct Hit (anywhere on ship above Deck): 3 Damage
D. Regular Keg:
----Direct Hit (Next to Base of Mast): 4 Damage
----Non-Direct Hit (anywhere on ship above Deck): 1 Damage
E. Cannon Ball: 1 Damage
2. If mast is crippled (10 Damage), an animation occurs where the mast crumbles down to the deck, it can be repaired but requires 10 planks.
A. You would do repair the mast with an animation that would take some time and planks would be used during animation. Animation would include pulling ropes and leveraging mast until it is back in upright position and finally hammering some planks to the base.
B. The entire animation would take about the same amount of time to repair the mast as if it were 10 planks being repaired on the hull. Depending on the ship, more players could repair hull at one time.
**3. Until Mast is repaired, the ship moves at 1/3rd speed, each ship would need a different sail animation. Each in its own way to explain the 1/3rd speed visually. **
A. Sloop: the mast would be crippled, but part of the sail would still be up (1-2 players repairing at a time).
B. Brig: the main Mast would be completely destroyed, but the other sail would still be up (1-3 players repairing at a time)
C. Galleon: the Mast would fall onto the deck, and part of it would be caught on one of the other sails to cripple it as well. (1-4 players repairing at a time)
let me know what you all think. Thanks for the Read!
