So I will be making a Kraken guide in the near future. Hopefully when I run into it again I can remember to record the encounter.
With the influx of people asking and begging Rare to change the way the Kraken works especially on Brigs I have made it my mission to run into this beast A LOT.
"But how? Isn't it random chance?" - Yes and no. There is a certain rule that is present that I think 90% of the player base is unaware of.
"Will you share that information?" - Umm....no. Reasons being that if people knew the information then avoiding the kraken is completely possible, which means Rare will change the way the Kraken works, which means I myself won't be able to avoid it. So....screw you guys :).
Some information to help people for the time being before video is out.
There is a tentacle that spawns right before it decides to wrap you. If that tentacle is damaged, then you can go through the whole encounter without being wrapped even once.
"Which tentacle?" - I want to share that information but I'll wait till I release the guide. Hopefully since you are now aware that there is a specific tentacle, then maybe you and your crew will be more observant around the Kraken and not just run around repairing and shooting cannons blindly.

Sea of Thieves Solo Kraken
Again sorry about the audio. I've said a few things that are incorrect.
I said that as long as your boat is moving tentacle wrap is a low percentage. Sorry what I meant to say is that as long as your boat is moving the spawn rate of the tentacle is lower than what it would be if you were stationary.
Again I will be making a better vid later. Right now I'm going to go make some food. Probably some broccoli beef or stir fry....don't know yet. New season of Brooklyn99 and new episode of orville to watch. So food and then I'll go grab kraken again.
EDIT PART 2
So in this video I am soloing a Kraken, Skelly Ship, AND a Meg.
The settings were screwed up for the audio. So there is no commentary. I made sure I had 2 of the other bosses on me before the Kraken spawned.
This was my game plan. I ignored the skeleton ship and the meg. The 3 bosses will take care of each other I just have to make sure my ships survives. Skeleton ship will shoot me, kraken, and meg. The meg while being hurt by the ink and the skelly ship will attack the tentacles and the skelly ship. The kraken will attack any ship that is within its ink.
With me moving around so much you won't catch the meg until after the skelly ship gets taken out when I get a chance to not be stuck in my bottom deck. Somewhere near the end of the video.
Now if this was a jig ball or sleep ball, I would have done things differently. I would have either A tried to keep my boats backside to the skelly ship or would have made sure to be on the opposite of wherever they are shooting. Again as long as you keep calm you'll be fine.
At around 7:25 into the video the kraken blocked my stairs with a wrap. You'll see how I handled it.
The only thing I can say that is a requirement are supplies. Planks and cannons.
EDIT PART 3
This is me fighting the Kraken, SOLO on a brig. SOLO. If I can do this well solo, then you all should have no problems with a full crew honestly.
In this video I let it wrap me on purpose and I purposely didn't bucket or repair the first go around. I wanted to see exactly how fast the ship would sink if I tried to do nothing but get the tentacle off the boat. I had no choice but to bucket because I was getting close to sinking which again means, with a full crew or even with 1 other person you should have no problems with the Kraken.
Second Try coming in 30mins (Second video no show, its too long and youtube wants my phone number even though we arent that close yet.) Will try to figure it out though.
