My crewmate lagged in the other day to start provisioning our galleon while he waited for the rest of us, and as soon as I logged in I found that a sloop had been attacking him for the last couple minutes. That's just how the game goes sometimes. For the record we drove it off, then when a Meg attacked us we chased the sloop down and scraped the meg off onto it.
@xRekkoffx If you have nothing to lose you have nothing to fear. They will kill and have their fun and will move on and you can spawn elsewhere and try again. I get it it sucks sorry you had a bad experience but that is what this game is about. No one tells someone else how to play and we can do what we like in this great game.
@xRekkoffx I like the relaxed part of the game too and avoid PvP, but SoT is a mix of both, so for now it doesn't look like PvE-Servers will be added anytime.
Rare rather works on content which encourages teamwork, PvP is the one thing that doesn't provide any progress in the game.

If this game went PvE I think I'd quit.
For me and my friends part of the fun is the unexpected, the thrill of seeing a ship bearing down on you with no idea if they are "friend of foe"
The rush I get when I cannon myself over to an enemy ship to give my ship a chance to escape is awesome.
Could I get that from a PvE server? No. But I also wouldn't want to go to a purely PvP server neither.
You may think of it as mindless PVP'ers, but in reality you have no idea what they were doing. They could have been doing a quest and needed to go to that outpost to turn in and didn't want anyone to steal their stuff so they sank you.
That is what I do when I am running an Athenas voyage and I need to go to an outpost. If someone is there then I kill then and sink their boat a majority of the time. Sometimes I will be nice and just kill then and send their boat away from the outpost. I did that last night, I even gave the guy a hateful bounty skull because he was a new player.
Needless to say, you have no idea what those "mindless PVP'ers" are doing.

Controversial opinion here, but I think PvE-only people are ruining this game. They will run from you for 30 mins or more, so boring. All to make sure they hand in their hateful skull and two Marauders chests.
Fair comment, however me and my friend are only ever in a Sloop, if another Sloop starts to attack we will reply with fury. If however it's a Galleon bearing down on us, we'll try and defend ourselves but we usually run, especially if we have a lot of loot on board.

Some nights its not too bad, but the last couple of nights have been a complete snoozefest with most every ship we encounter running away. Its hard enough just to find a ship to fight sometimes with these low population "rooms".

My crew and I haven't been able to move 5 feet without getting shot at.
I was sailing with a buddy of mine couple of hours ago and we were talking how different this game is now. Before Hungering Deep most ships attacked us on sight and that helped us to improve combat & handling our ship.
Now were pretty good on PvP but it's rare anyone attacks us. Last session there was 3 other sloops sailing around the Ancient Spire Outpost are and none of them was aggressive.
We like doing voyages so it's very rare we attack anyone unless they shoot us first so we kind a hope there'd be more PvP players around heh.
PvE serves would kill this game though.
@xRekkoffx your playing the wrong game then, How dare us mindless PVP guys take a chance on sinking you and having loot. hope to sea you out there. I'll introduce you to those statues at the bottom of the ocean

Yesterday I spawned in to find two people messing with my sloop. I chose to fight them. I won. Sure, my ship sunk and I got eaten by sharks, but I sunk theirs first and killed them before I got eaten. It was a fun battle and I killed them more times than they killed me. Plus the Megalodon showed up and sort of lend me a fin. It was really fun. Not what I originally intended to do, but I had fun nonetheless.

lol this reminded of this time my crew mate and myself came up to a sloop and started blasting them. They were yelling, "Stop we are merchants, we are merchants!" We responded to them, "We are pirates! We are pirates!"
They had some nice skulls that we traded in.
If you just spawned at an outpost when you are attacked then just scuttle and complete your business before catching a mermaid to your boat. They may have had very good reasons for sinking your boat. Ever have a timed mission to deliver something to an outpost that is occupied? Ever move from one occupied outpost to another only to find someone camping there as well? This reminds me of the posts about "mindless outpost campers" just a few weeks ago. As least that nonsense died down.

Most suck. Entitled, don't care about anyone but themselves. There is a reason even RARE acknowledge the perception and problem with multiplayer games is the toxic nature of them, and want the game to be welcoming.... naive at best. Problem will only escalate as more and more players get PL and bored. Happens in most games. It's just a matter of time. Guaranteed.

Wondering if we ran across the same group, on a galleon, passing eachother, we start to fire/ send people to board, they yell “we’re just merchants and if u leave us alone we will give u a captains chest”
my response: “if ur a merchant where’d u get that chest?”
Once its all said and done 6 villanious skulls, 3 more captain chests and a few marauders chests float to the surface... thank u “mr merchant”

Again.. we get it. You think its toxic that people sink other people. You think because someone sunk you they're only out to troll you, have nothing better to do, or just want to ruin your life. You've got a chip on your shoulder regarding PL, and PvP, and for you those things are all synonymous with "troll"
Suck it up buttercup.. maybe take a step back, realize maybe your problem with the game is you? The fact that a game marketed and designed a specific way doesn't suit your specific desire, but that it should bend to?
Entitled is making post after post complaining the game should be engineered more to what you specifically want, despite how big of a change that would be to its entire core and premise.
Games not even close to failing because there are no safezones or PvE servers. Despite how factual some people here seem to think that statement is.

Not all no. I think many are though. I have ran into a fair few in game already both solo and duo, have heard the toxic crud they spew off...so yah not a fan of those types of players.
PL? No I met a few nice ones..so your wrong there. My Experience so far with PVP PL on the other hand is different.
But hey whatever you wanna think....
I get it.. being boarded and getting all your stuff taken doesn't feel good. Having your boat destroyed for no reason, seems dumb.
But they just want your stuff and maybe you have stuff on your boat.. and they don't want you respawning.. they have to get rid of your boat to permanently get rid of you.. maybe even just to turn their stuff in safely.
I solo sloopsd last night.. I had a great haul I found while doing merchant quests and statues... had two captains, etc.. was only able to unload my merchant quest before a 3man galleon came after me.. i fled on my boat before they got me but they gave chase.
I made a bad play.. and I got boarded.. two on 1... had to respawn a few times before I got on their boat to catch my breath and ladder camp them on their own boat! lol
Alas, the 3rd guy came up behind me a shot me in the back... it was late so I just logged off.
It didn't feel good. I was bummed that I coulda done something different. Even now still thinking that maybe if I woulda started throwing my stuff in the sea they woulda stopped and left me alone.. or at least made it so they didn't get it.
Makes me get better at the game.
They didn't do anything wrong.. I shouldn't of stopped at the outpost until they were gone. They were playing the pirate.. I was the prey.
No reason to come on here to cry about it. I've had times where I got sunk with nothing on board and got respawned on an island that had loot on it!
You just gotta go with the flow man and just realize that other ships are your rivals and they want your loot the easy way for the money.
It is a pirate game after all.
