MOVING SPEED - Into a MMO(ish) adventure game - Sandbow = Seabox

  • Hello Team,

Like my sand box = sea box. Go ahead and use that humorous haha at will.

SOT is moving slowly into the future and a few easy upgrades could help keep the people.

    1. A simple skill tree -Example:
3 threes (25 points each) - one for each quest giver.
As you level you get 1 skill point.
      Skills example:
HORDER - Ability to carry two items (chest, skull, Shiny)
LOOTER - Able to loot 2x items from barrels
CANNONEER - Able to hold 2x cannon balls
GUNNER - Able to hold 2x ammo
SWORDSMEN - 2x faster thrust timer
RIGGER - 2x less damage on fall (2x harder to break leg)
MONSTER HUNTER - please add idea
      NAVIGATOR - please add idea
(you can also add skills that promote teamwork)
CREWMEN - Increases sail rigging speed (up down, side to side) time 2x
CAPTIAN'S CALL - buff players in combat for 30 sec
SURVIVOR - Can hold 2x Banana

Lots of fun ideas here.... They help specialise and make you feel unique. The skills above are just examples of the system. You could make each require 10 skill points to be max level (2x ability) and 5 skill points for a (1x). Or what ever is balanced, you know.

    I would also suggest:

Admiral - Can have up to 8 people in crew with up to 2 ships or all using one. The Admiral ability opens at level 49 and allows crew to respawn on the chosen ship (or closest ship).
Captain - Increases the gold taken in quests (level 30)
Crewmen - Players under level 30

This way people will start to form a command structure and players over 30 will get increase crew chances (they want). Players over 49 can play a advanced end game if they can rally players to bigger events requiring more crew!

These are just two small things that would make the game feel more MMO with people really taking on the role of Admiral, Captain, and Crewmen.

With unique skills the players will find good crewmen that match their skills. A fighter will find a Hoarder and both want someone with Rigger, Navigator skills (EXAMPLE). A solo artist might want (1x) 5 points in each and spread out skills. Fighting skills are great, but a fast ship can get you in and out fast (avoid fight) and Hoarder skills also help you move items fast. Would you specialize all into one? Or mix two (even a little from all three) to create a unique sailor of your own!! (hehehe)

Whatever you do DO IT FASTER. You are off to a good start. But people will get bored and content does not always have to be CONTENT on map... Player builds are fun!

  • Although you have great ideas with this post, the ideas don't fall within the realm/scope of this game.
It's been the dev's vision for sometime that there is NO vertical progression.
EVERYONE is on the same playing field except for experience. No one will have better stats, hold more items, do more damage.

  • I've also made a thread a little similar to this but i don't believe rare will add anything like this bc they don't want differences or advantages by level they want everything on equal playing grounds still good job interesting ideas

  • @iisrgntwolfii

I did not suggest anything that would do more damage.

No vertical progression is a bad idea if you want a player bass because it means you have no END GAME. It is also impossible because your just saying item progression is the only vertical progression (gold). But that is still vertical progression of wealth. What do level 50s do with it once they have all they need? bored?

I am level 25 and I don't really want any new items. Other then reach 50 repeating the same stuff over and over (quests) and a few events if they fit my schedule... I will look for something with more depth sooner then later. I am sure others grieve and some help new players. But that all gets old fast. Need depth! I guess that's vertical movement.....

    How you enjoyed the post.

You may have not suggested more damage, but my comment was addressing the game as a whole.
RARE doesn't want anyone to be at a disadvantage when playing. Aside, again, from experience gained from actually playing.

  • Problem i see with this. Mr. Greef the speed grinder pirate legend now has a full tree in all three categories(probably 4 else shreaks of unfair to legends) newer /lower level players now have a harder time fighting back and are unable to amass any gold or xp. They are then unable to basicly play

  • @ronln-guns-inc I Vote No. Respectfully :)

  • @draun25

All the "Insider" are very negative to new ideas or advancing them. A toxic community already building.

How about you just give all players skills to set - not level gained to add depth. BLOW YOUR MIND!

    Disappointed in the feedback.

  • Sea of Thieves is not an MMO, if they add [user edited] like a skill tree I would instantly stop playing. If you wanna play an MMO go play an MMO.

In Sea of Thieves, when you see a pirate you know he's just a pirate, you can be sure he doesn't have any buffs or special abilities, you know his pistol shoots as far as yours, his blunderbuss does the same amount of damage as yours etc.

  • @ronln-guns-in you have nice ideas but this isn't an mmo it's an open adventure sandbox game. I'd rather there be no skills and everyone remain equal.
