Suggestion : Commodities and Trade

  • I would like to see the ability to “trade” between islands.

Sugar, tea, silks, bananas, and spices are screaming for a simple system that would allow us to “buy low” from one part of the map and “sell high” in another.

(Freelancer is a good example of this.)

For example, spices might be relatively cheap in the Ancient Isles, but expensive in The Wilds.

The actual commodity prices at each outpost would vary between a range, leaving it to chance.

Imagine investing in and filling your hold with 25 crates of Spices, and running the risk of carrying them across the sea for a 2x-3x profit...

  • As a long time player of Elite I absolutely love this idea

  • @volatilecoder I've been wondering about something like this for a while, to improve the immersion of the merchant voyages, but haven't been able to put my thoughts into words successfully - this seems like a great way of working it though, good job!

    Hello CMDR Reedski

    I love the idea too!
Although it wouldn't be a voyage. You literally buy the commodities and then sell them for profit. if you arrive.... if they are buying it for more than what you paid for...

  • @squalzell Delacy Romeo Echo Echo... damn... gotta play me some elite now... yeah, but even without a voyage you can make a ton of money in elite just buying and selling between systems, same thing on a much smaller scale

  • @squalzell

Yes, this exactly. It’s not a voyage, you can do this independently of, or in concert with, an existing voyage.

Like “I need to go to Marauder’s arch, I’m going to stock up on silks before I head there so I can sell them at Galleon’s Grave on the way...”

Let no leg of your journey not profit you in some way...
