Hungering Deep Content

    Hey All,

    I am planning to come back to the game and play it again with the DLC release.

    I thought that as part of the content road map that we were supposed to get a new section of the map and a new ship. Is that not the case? Maybe I misread it.

    I left the game last time because it got boring real quick, but there was so much unrealized potential. A lot of rinse a repeat gameplay and terrible AI drained my enthusiasm though.

    I know it just came out today, but what are everyone's initial thoughts so far on the Hungering Deep?

    @captainkashus IIRC Cursed Sails brings the new boat and Forsaken Shores brings the new parts of the map.

    I think all 3 introduce a new AI threat.

    @captainkashus Pure trash, one horrible quest and a giant shark. Not DLC,not a content update. This is Rare trying to hype their trash game thats already in the gutter.

    1. The Megaloadon is a bullet sponge fight with few actual mechanics.

    2. Cosmetics - New ship stuff (sails/flags), drum, megaphone and tattoos.

    3. No actual change to the base game. It's still a grind with limited ways to earn rep.

    4. legends got nothing new to do so still a limited end game.

    Overall it's good for a few hours of fun and you've done everything there is to do and you're back to square one again of waiting for the next expansion.

    @xcalypt0x It passes for now by the skin of it's teeth. Don't get me wrong I want this to succeed but won't shill for a game if it's underwhelming.

    It's just how long can the game stay relevant with so many big new releases coming this fall?

    If this is a medium sized update then I'm actually worried now about how big full scale updates will be.

    They specifically said this was a small update. The smallest we would see. The other updates will grow in size.

    Sure they said in the video, please understand this is a small update! Said it at least twice!

    @braxkedren they actually stated this was a "meduim sized" update quite a while ago.

    I've played the Hungering Deep this afternoon and it's a great way to spend a few hours completing, magnificently done and a lot of fun.
    After the two week limited event the items and features will remain within the game and the weekly events will begin.

    @braxkedren Right. But @BLOODFRENZY187 is not wrong. Initially they said it would be a medium size update. Medium was the exact word they used.

    I am actually glad that they went back later and said small. As @BLOODFRENZY187, if this was medium, big updates don't look too promising.

    But don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to play and experience the Hungering Deep content regardless of its size :)

    Last weeks Dev Video specifically called it small and the smallest we would see. So as things change, I tend to go with the last thing said in regards to content. Been around way too long in games to see that these things change constantly.

    Became Pirate legend within a month, became lvl 10 athena's 2 weeks later and was waiting for the hungering deep.
    This so called "DLC" just added 2 hours of gameplay to the game, finished the megeladon got the figurehead and uninstalled as Merrick had nothing more to say.

    Maybe I'll be back next year hoping they have actually delivered content. I don't want to be a negative Nancy, I've been hyped for this game for a long time, I've convinced a lot of people this game is actually good fun and worth grinding, but I'm sorry I can't do that anymore.
    Sea of Thieves has been a bigger let down than my first ever girlfriend breaking up with me.

    I guess my expectations were way higher than what Rare has delivered, this is either my fault or because of the whole marketing around the game. But this game isn't meant for me personally, I truly cheer for people who still have fun and much love for the game so pls don't take my comment the wrong way.

    @captainkashus if that's your reasons to leave. Then there's no much reason for you to come back. Besides the campaign, there's nothing new. If you got bored of the game then this isn't your time yet.

    Agreed, it once was but thats why I said for them to watch last weeks. Thats all.
