Firing Skulls from Cannons and other easy stuff

  • Yarrr....

On the Forum we see a lot of suggestions that would require a great deal of development time. Whirlpools, additional animals, fishing systems, gambling...you name it. Massive additions to the game that will take months to actualize as the game matures. I would like to ask the mob this:

"What small enriching updates could we ask for between the named DLC releases "

I'm talking more small things like hiding name plaques when underwater and private crews. While I'm sure the dev team has plenty of projects, I'm sure they are always looking for low effort impactful content. Even this last week Rare needed some extra time to QA the passing resource items.

Myself? TOld Davy has a few....

Firing Skull from Cannons. Just give us a cool sound effect to start. Those suckers are meant to be loaded...just look at 'em. Needless to say, the sky is the limit for cool effects and later dev.

Merchant Crates. Let players have better access to them. For Animal Crates, For Reasource Crates... Picking them up at the dock is no fun.

More/Better Books/Bottles. Just spice these up a little bit. The books could involve voyages with actual storylines (Chapters would follow a narrative) or the Messages in a bottle could have text on the back, or always lead to a legendary chest.

Anyhow... these are a few quick wins from me... what have you guys got?

  • Not going to lie, I would shoot treasure off a ship I board in a second if it was possible.

  • @horizonlegendo

My arguement would be that once you have it in your hands... it's yours!

  • @dave-plunder How about shooting treasure straight to the outpost NPCs!

  • @horizonlegendo

I hadn't considered that the skull might still exist after it was fired from a cannon.

Actually having it act much different than a cannon ball might be challenging and cause way more development time than the gameplay reward would be.

  • @dave-plunder Yeah, the game really needs more polish when it comes to dropped items. I feel like if an item can't be seen it should be placed in that area and should automatically slide to the next closes area that is reachable to be picked up. So chest would slide off mountain sides if they fell mid jump.

  • @horizonlegendo

Oh yeah, I'm not a huge fan of chests being hidden inside other graphics. It's not a huge deal and I'm not sure what a reasonable solution could be... but it could use that polish

  • Definitely agree that more books/bottles/found quests would be awesome. When you're out doing voyages and have a load of c****y chests, it's always nice to find a quest along the way if the crew isn't holding any voyages. Even just something small to do on the way to the Outpost. I also think it would be cool if there were random Captains here and there to drop skulls without picking up a Bounty quest. Would give folks incentive to stop off at an island along the way and work through a skeleton crew.

  • @doc-crooks

Oh yeah... like a mini skull fort would be cool. A chance any fort might just be manned with one round of skeletons and a captain. Or some islands have palisades or interesting caves they could spawn from.

I like this idea. They could probably get this ready in short order.

  • Shooting skulls is nice if you lose them after wards, let's say once you shoot them they become a cannon ball with an special effect.
But you cannot shoot them to an island and expect to find them later, that would be too exploitable.

  • @wturok

    Agreed.

Just put a hideous scream on or something.

Something loud that gets the other players attention. A cool cosmetic effect to have fun with
