@nwo-azcrack I think you mean how many games give out a video update cause they broke the “scheduled update” and failed to give us the update twice on their scheduled time? As far as games doing weekly updates atm well here you go.

GTA 5@RickLames02 Have you not been watching the dev podcasts or update videos?
They've been plenty communicative with the playerbase. They've also been responsive on issues players have brought to their attention, such as ship spawn distances and private crews.
If you're wondering why we haven't gotten concrete deadlines for content releases, it's more of a "It'll be released when it's done" deal; hard dates mean they may have to push out a buggy mess just to meet their promise, then get flak for having to go back and fix all those glitches.
Lol and one video shared on a twitter page is good enough communication for ya... how about you update your website seaofthieves.com/status
Like I said sloppy

We already know a lot of things

I think they are very close compared to other devs aka DICE/EA/Activision/etc.

In what way was I trolling? Is it because I said the truth? Did I hurt your feelings defending your beloved game? Report me all you want but the topic at hand is truth one video isn’t enough. The fact that users have to share this video on reddit instead of the staff updating their own website.....

I thought you quit (:
maybe I'll see you at a fort some night
@ricklames02 Most developers tell you nothing, you wait for a patch to drop randomly without warning then read the notes that usually say nothing. I don't know where you got this kind of expectation from. Rare have gone above and beyond the industry standard and honestly I'm surprised M$ has allowed it.
Let me sum up every dev update from rare.
"We have some really exciting things in the works that will make the world even more immersive and emergent. A living world that players will really enjoy being in."
That's basically what we get every time. Very very little detail at all. Just more marketing tease.

I bet you are unemployed.
Ahoy mate, just want to jump in here and add that throughout the whole development cycle, Rare released videos, blogs, posts, website updates very regularly as the Sea of Thieves and Rare youtube channels illustrate. On release we also saw a good few video updates as well as plenty of twitter posts.
The difficulty is, that a great deal of this communication is over multiple locations and not always in one place, which might lead to the impression that not much is being released.

@personalc0ffee patch notes? Like they told us they nerfed the loot to prevent an avalanche of angry "legends"?
Their comms are vague fluffery and legal CYA. The game is bare bones and as basic as they come. So I understand the desire for more information. There's just none to give because there's nothing here.
As far as being responsive goes, they were told in beta the spawns were whack, and private parties should have been a thing out of the gate. That's not being responsive. That's basic design flaws getting fixed.

Exactly. It’s not the amount of communication - it’s what is being communicated.
@ricklames02 Personally I've felt pretty well informed from one week to the next. They have put out various videos and podcasts detailing what has happened and what will be happening.
I do feel that how they communicate needs to be looked at though. The website could do with making it more obvious that an update is coming (video, blog, whatever) and then again when the update has been released.
@ricklames02 Yar! Great points! I stand with you on them. This fourm as you can tell.. is "pro rare" to put it nicely.. They be happy with their "weekly updates" that address things poorly at best.. Yet the only other time they respond on twitter to customers is when you suck up... tell you to open a ticket. That's it. They pretend like nothing else is a problem.
@tre-oni that was the word that came to my mind too.
I want more Developer videos, I want more updates of possible future content.
But to be honest it sounds like quite a small team of developers working on this game, so I want that team to focus on doing the work on the game before giving me an update, or recording a video.
It's my arguement for meetings - meetings for meetings sake. Wasting time rather than doing the work.I would love more updates of work being done - because I love the game and the potential it has.

Proof of this assertion?

And if you paid ANY attention to their official replies they already talked about why you are not getting your way and why things are the way they are.
That's what I'm talking about right there. You've been given the official reason and yet you thumb your nose at it.
You were told and yet you still throw tantrums and act entitled.
oh, really? mind pointing me to the place where they stated why private parties and other basic things are missing?
@zalavaaris but m8, if they told you everything flat out that you would be getting, then that would ruin the fun of when the update finally comes out and you'd be surprised by that you get
