Pvp / Pve Flag Warning

  • I know the team is silly busy so maybe down the line?

My idea is have the wind flag as a indicator that someone wants to pvp or not.

Meaning you could buy custom designs for this like flags of nationality or a simple black and white skull and cross. There would be a extra hook you could click on the mast to raise the white wind flag. If you joined the game to pve then you just keep the white wind flag up.

Before the community come down on me about "people will just pretend to surrender or they are doing pve" I know this but at the moment I believe things coming for reddit are like leave your back light on if you want to pve which random ships just never turn off in the first place.

Yes I'm aware it could be used as a tactic to fool the enemy.
Yes It could be helpful when sailing close to a ship.
Yes It will probably be abused.
Yes Its something that is a 50/50 work rate so hence when and if there is time to implement this.

I think would be a cool feature and another cosmetic you could purchase for your ship with functionality...

ps. To the community I'm a pvp l***y so don't come at me with wa wa stop crying or its a pvp game don't play it if you want to pve.

Seen this at least 6 times before. Sorry for sounding grumpy

  • @pixelhood

Custom flags have been brought up quite a bit, whether it's to display PvP intent or just to have something personalized. Pretty much everything you can think of on the subject has been requested of Rare.

And as for your comments on the different flags being abused for tricking people, that's pretty much how pirates operated so it wouldn't so much be abuse as it would be historically accurate.

Not to mention that regardless of what system is implemented into the game, people would find a way to abuse it in one way or another. A lot of people don't seem to realize just how creative gamers can get with "restrictions".

  • O I've no doubt it would be used to trick or abuse people...

I also thought this morning where I am I've a great idea let me post it... I guess I was wrong I wasn't the first to suggest it whoops
