Walk The Plank! Capture Filthy Pirates!?

  • There should also be a way to capture other crew with a rope and they can evade that with a sword but if they have a gun out or there back is turned you should be able to capture a guy and brig him onto your ship. then later after screwing with him or sinking his ship while he is locked you can have him walk the plank. This should also allow him not to be able to swim being tied up so he would die and respawn on new ship. Also doing this there should be a bigger brig like the ones in sunken treasure. Also a timed delay on capturing them. and have to walk them over to your brig. Any thoughts?

    thanks

  • @cobra07102000 I think 'screwing with him' be the reason this will ne'er see the light o day. T'would be viewed as griefing or bullying if ye could keep another pirate tied in yer brig.

I like that it be a classic pirate idea, "walk the plank ye mutinous dog", but I don't think it will show up.

  • @awesomecoreusa ah well it was a thought. But i see where that would problebly ruin the game for the one who is captured and briged for hours. maybe a way to fix that aswell. but thanks

but will give a reason for lets say a 4 person galleon to come back to try to save the captured pirate.

  • @cobra07102000 Aye, I mean if they find a way to implement without turning it into a way to abuse other players. If ye remove the brig idea an' a roped player is moved straight to the plank and ye can either prod them off with a sword else they be able to wriggle free an escape...

Sadly, I think most crews would stick to the code... any man that falls behind be left behind.

  • You say, "... or there back is turned you should be able to capture a guy and brig him onto your ship. then later after screwing with him or sinking his ship while he is locked you can have him walk the plank."

You must be one of the honor-less lubbers that say ahoy then shoot someone in the back even though they went out of their way to give you a pass though you were in our sights.

Even though it is a game and we play pirates, everything we all do or say, comments on who we are as a person and a microbiome, and our place in the cosmic-web in general. ... "google the big words and concepts and do with it as you will.

In life I happen to know many criminals ... even most of them would face you, if they mean you harm. Perhaps I make myself a victim of those with low moral character when I extend politeness or offer help giving your ilk the opportunity to strike 1st.

I hope I continue to do so, if ye see me on the high seas and need a hand I will help and I will only strike first if I threatened. Attempt to communicate I will back off. Be an office or grieving pirate and depending on my mood ... one of us will end up logging off or scuttling savvy

  • Force current crew members to walk the plank as vote kick mechanism.

  • In theory it could work if it was more of a 'giving players the option to surrender' versus capturing. Surrendering would have to be accepted on both ends. This way you can either be killed and respawn normally or surrender with chance of escape and mischief. So you would be brigged but then you would be able to pick the lock and slip out and cause trouble/escape. Then it goes back to norm either you get killed or surrender again. Maybe even some sort of reward if they get you back to an outpost alive.

Don't now if anything like this would make the cut for the game but it is an interesting idea that could have some merit, especially towards pvp. As stated the trick is keeping the system from crippling an involved players session.

Edit Afterthought: maybe prisoner has so many lockpicks to attempt escape while captors have a narrow window that would require them to go straight for an outpost to keep you from being stuck for extended periods of time. After which you just respawn at your ship like normal.

  • Some kind of capture system partnered with in-game bounties would be interesting... not sure about walking the plank though. I'd prefer just to be shot and have it over with if someone's hellbent on killing me.

  • @wkd1337 Ya thats a good idea but atm it would be abused especually with mic players and the ones who doesnt have a mic. AKA me.

  • I'd say the capture mechanism might be tricky to code, but what definitely would be fun is the ability to tie a heavy chest to your foe's legs with a rope and throw the chest overboard effectively drowning the character in the process. You lose the chest, but the resistance as well.

With the chest tied to their legs, they would move slower and for us to be able to tie them to begin with, we would need to daze them with a shovel first. Of course we would need the correct chest too. Treasure chests won't work coz they float, haha.
