PC players only hack and have better controls I will not support any game that forces crossplay.
Option to Disable Crossplay
@ii-axelforce-ii
Exactly. & when the xbox players start leaving in there droves due to the unfair advantage that pc players have, then they will just be left with their own kind.
Better to keep the players & offer them the option, rather than no option & the players leave!@logansdadtoo Well SoT's playerbase is already decreasing because people are complaining about lack of content. Splitting up the playerbase will only make the maps feel more empty bc you'll have less players on both sides.
@logansdadtoo I think the biggest irony is, most of the playerbase will be console. Most PC players use steam and other things to game on. The majority of players will be console and they seem to be screwing them over lol
@knifelife
Just MS pushing to increase numbers any way they can & trying to push into the PC market as well.
Like you said tho m8, xbox users are getting screwed & no one gives a monkeys.
If all future MS titles are forced crossplay, & there is any PVP element involved at all, i will not be buying them!!
Crossplay is fine when there isn't any form of shooting involved, as soon as there is, PC wins, so whats the point?Thats pretty reductive and unconstructive.
Not to mention inaccurate. So you will boycott any game with crossplay?
Are you camping this forum with a placard then?!
Down with this sort of thing@a-cranky-eskimo said in Option to Disable Crossplay:
There is no reason not to give the option, and all the excuses I hear are as stupid as they are irrelevant, and then some that are just spiteful uncaring pc players like “either way we have the advantage, I just commented to say that, nana nana boo boo”
there's actually a bunch of good reasons, pretty sure you'd ignore them all.
I am 100% sure that most of the people whining about PC hacking is actually experiencing a laggy player and/or are laggy themselves.SoT's game style would require it to have a netcode system that favors shooters, instead of favoring the server, which is what i currently does.
To give you some perspective, CS:GO favors the server, Overwatch favors the shooter.
I've hit pirate legend, don't even know how to check how many hundred hours I've poured into this game yet and frankly i'm afraid to know, and I have not encountered 1 instance of cheating that isn't explained by terrible lag.@varples Any game that forces a certain percentage of the playerbase to play handicapped without giving a choiceto opt out. That's why crossplay on Fortnite and Rocket League are so great, because theres a choice! Ive always wanted to be able to play with other platforms. But as i said for the third time aha when i play without them i want to be able to choose if im going to be at an unfair advantage.
@sir-rhavi never said anything about cheating but they could improve everyone’s ping I agree. Though cheating is an almost exclusively pc issue. Why don’t you try to state these reasons...
What splitting the playerbase of a game that only has 5 or 6 ships per server? And the option would still exist and I would probably play on the crossplay servers a bunch anyways..
Try and make a point instead of saying that I’m ignorant or whatever, because you seem to be the one ignorant of the facts on this topic.
@a-cranky-eskimo Pretty much sums up these forums later, insead of replying with a concise argument to back there opinions and claims up, they resort to childish insults..
@knifelife but you havent accused every PC player of cheating or threatened to never ever play a crossplay game again.
That was the post I was replying to. I don't think crossplay damages the game at all, but thats just my opinion. You make some good points, but you are finding arguments with my reply which just aren't there.
Posting "i will boycott all crossplay" on a crossplay games forum is either pointless or lying.

What i said has nothing to do with ping, shows your understanding of the subject...
One of the main points of crossplay, besides the VERY OBVIOUS merging of both of Microsoft's platform, which i'll ignore because as much business sense as it makes, we don't generally care, crossplay & the gamepass ensures the game feels alive at all times: fast matchmaking, oceans don't feel empty, no matter the time of day/week/timezone you play at.
Not to mention this game has the unique feature of it being possible to be good on both platforms: the pace of the game is slow and tactical for the most part, rarely does the twich-movement skills of really good PC players make that much of a difference, example:You think that guy who boarded your galleon and killed most of you won the battle, but in truth, the fact that he boarded, and you were already filled with holes, all he needed to be was a distraction, he won the battle the moment he managed to board (your mistake).
the ship to ship combat mechanic works perfectly with both control methods, if not better on the console, which makes this game one of the few where the buy-once-play-anywhere mentality of Microsoft really shines for players going from one system to the other

@a-cranky-eskimo And before you call me out again, let me tell you i am SUPER IN FAVOR of disabling cross-play: I play with my PC friends, and I would LOVE to play in some larger servers with higher draw distances, which are both limited by the xbox's inferior hardware.
but like i said, it probably isn't going to happen.
@sir-rhavi being an Xbox player who has only sunk like 5 legitimate times in my 700 ish hours of playing and testing, either in a sloop or not with my usual crewmates, but of the couple that had atleast partial crew it was for a fact pc players, and the small arms combat and their ability to stay on target with a mouse is unachievable with a controller. Yea if we had outsailed them like we usually do we likely could have lit them up and suicide boarded and sunk them, I agree that it’s not as bad as most games, but that’s not the point. And the time spent leading up to possibly game deciding small arms combat arguably makes it worse. If they have made their server merging system work right they realistically wouldn’t need to worry about servers being empty. If all that you say is true those should be reasons why the option is there, not why they should force players to deal with crossplay, especially the half (likely more) of the playerbase that has to pay a subscription for Xbox to play.
If all these things about microsoft are positives then they should be able to stand on their own with the ability to opt out available.

This just shows you have money, not knowledge of the netcodes used in multiplayer games :-, nor the knowledge of PC building for that matter.
I've been a hardcore PC gamer for the past... dunno, 15 years? There have been a few games that were rampant with hackers sure, but usually modern ones aren't it.@sir-rhavi "ensures the game feels alive at all times:"
This is an exclusively PC issue though. Even some of the worst console games have sprawling, dedicated audiences for around a decade. As a console player, why should I care that the PC userbase dwindles to nothing after 5 months? It's like that with tons of PC games because they have too many good options/competition to maintain massive playerbases for every individual game like a console can. That's one of the drawbacks of being a multiplayer PC gamer, and it doesn't seem right to try and alleviate that issue at the console player's expense.
@natsu-v2 Well, on the other side of things, why should I care that the console players don't want crossplay? Why should I care that console players feel they have a huge disadvantage? That's one of the drawbacks of being a cross-platform console gamer, and it doesn't seem right to try and alleviate that issue at the PC players expense.

Yes, it might be a PC problem, but if it's a PC problem, it would defeat the purpose of microsoft's buy-once-play-anywhere, would it not?
@sir-rhavi Yup, but your arguments kind of flirt in between of what's good for microsoft and what's good for players. MS has been really p*****g me off with the move towards merging Xbox and PC. I very well might abandon Xbox entirely if they keep pursuing that, and many of my friends feel the same way. I wish they would take a page from Sony or Nintendo's book.
@legandj Because a huge chunk of the console audience buys a console SOLELY for the walled-garden approach to gaming. The idea that everyone has almost complete parity in the experience when it comes to competitive measures.
Historically, that has always been my reasoning for choosing console over PC. The waters are getting muddied with Xim's and a couple other minor things, but crossplay is opening a much larger can of worms.
