"SeaDog System"

  • So I played a game back in the day called TIBIA where it had a cool PVP system that i'd like to share with you guys. Basically it let other players know that this guy/gal was a Player Killer (AKA PKER). Anyway I took this memory/idea and decided to revamp it to throw it out to the community to see what ya'll think? perhaps if a good majority likes it SoT and Rare could implement it into the game?

When a player attacks someone who is not "skulled" (AKA marked for PVP), he/she would get a white skull because this was an UNJUSTIFIED attack and every offense against other players during that time will reset the time. Ex: Player killers will have to wait another 12 minutes.

Now if a player kills someone with a white, yellow, red, or black skull, They wouldn't get skulled. (This would be considered a JUSTIFIED murder)

The rating would be as followed:

    White skull (1-2 kills) 12 in-game Hrs marked (12 mins real-time)

    Yellow skull (3-4 kills) 24 in-game Hrs marked (24 mins real-time)

    Red skull (5-6 kills) 36 in-game Hrs marked (36 mins real-time)

    Black skull (6+ kills) 48 in-game Hrs marked (48 mins real-time)

Green skull- Your crew member(s) flagged as one of the above

This could bring a whole knew dynamic to the game: - This can open up a bounty collection type reward system. See if your crew can go and hunt down the Marked Skull players/crew and be rewarded for a completed bounty turn in. Or perhaps yourself has a Red Skull bounty and its up to your crew to help keep you alive during the duration of your bounty so you all can receive the reward -Give pirates another reason to use the in-game pocket watch to see how much time you are left with for your bounty - Perhaps create a new fraction like "The Blue Sails" or some sort of police of the sea type thing. Speak with the NPC at an outpost and they'll inform you of the players on the server, their last island or area spotted and or even issue a bounty to retrieve. - Rewards could include Achievements, Titles, Cosmetics items, Gold, Reputation. - Can help other players identify if its a Friendly or a Foe before hand. Obviously if a pirate is sailing up to you saying "I'm a friendly! I'm a friendly!" but is flagged with a Yellow Skull... The Pirate most likely just took out a Gallon or something of the sort... probably should avoid, or maybe even collect. Or go against your better judgement... The pirates probably a savvy person!

But I'd like to see what everyone else thinks about this idea! I just figured it could add more to the game.

  • @yaabuggn Love that idea, you can build on it too. Other posts had great ideas about bounty systems with this as your template you could add more features in the future!

  • @yaabuggn

No... sorry but the game is more about theft and murder then you think... its called sea of thieves not sea of pve-please-behave... i once made a suggestion that could help the problem thou... introduce 4th faction british soldiers and doing quests for them is strictly pvp content but your crew turns into a ship of british soldiers with treasure you cant use yourself but will be a reward for pirates that defens themselves frim british soldiers

  • @genereder

I'm not to sure what you got out of that but it's not about "Pve-Please-Behave" at all lol.
Think about it... I love Pvp... I want to be rewarded for taking out other players and causing havoc, chasing them down, crashing into them. SO if I so happen to take my crew and we are sinking ships left and right we'll have a Black Skull lets say... We're now "most wanted" We're going to have people left and right coming after us to try and claim the big bounty on our heads.

However... on the OTHER side of the ship... maybe someone wants to just grind their rep up to 50 with their crew... the good ole' PVE way... They see another ship on the horizon, their crew wouldn't know until they were able to use the telescope to see their name tags... Oh no... Deadly pirates! Run. Now its on them to try to escape and avoid the pirates chasing them.

The system here can go anyway you perceive it.

Be the Hunter... Or the Hunted.
