you both did something wrong either way. no excuse from either you/your crew or the griefer should justify either of your actions.
for one thing, even when asked nicely, you should not have ask a person to leave at all without any justified reason. while some people appreciate anything that does not involve an insta-brig, some still hate being asked to leave. here are unjustified reasons to ask a person to leave (for future reference to you and others):
- you want a fourth buddy to join: your buddy should have had a better schedule or they should have logged in sooner. if friendship is so important, leave the server and rejoin with your friend.
- you want to play as a 3 person crew: until Rare creates a three person ship, a crew bond is sacred, and thus you must accept anyone who joins. a fourth crew member can only provide benefits when working cooperatively.
- the new crew member is a new player: keep to the code and guide new players. teach them or they will be someone else's problem.
- you feel as if they dont deserve your earned loot: the harsh truth is that no one cares, nor should care about whether or not you think a crew member deserves your loot. your entire crew will receive the same reward in the end.
the griefer should simply not have done what he did, but he wont be punished now even if you report him because of my first point; you asked him to leave first when you should not have. if you were so confident that he was a griefer in the beginning, than you should have waited until he took action. that away, the griefer would not have absolutely any excuse for his/her actions and most likely be punished. even one excuse from the griefer can give them a pass. for example, the other side of the story from the griefers perspective: "well, yeah. i did that, but they rudely told me to leave!" just as believable as your story with one action and one excuse for doing said action.
im sorry if im being too harsh, but this is one of the major reason why some griefers get a free pass: because both sides have done actions that are wrong, but both sides have excuses for doing those actions.
