Make Mermaids invisible to the enemy players.

  • As stated in title, IMHO make the mermaid only appear to the crew and not other enemy players. For example as a tactic for the skull fort. If an enemy ship has already got the key for the vault, but haven't opened it yet, all they need to do is look in the water to see a mermaid floating letting them know there is still another player around and wont open the vault until that hidden player is found. It makes it hard for that player who is trying to "hide" and strategically take the loot when the enemy unknowingly opens the vault not knowing if there is any players on the island without combing over the island first.

Also, there have been plenty of times I'm hiding behind a rock hoping not to be seen by an enemy ship and bam, all of a sudden I see a mermaid floating in the water which tells me, "oh look there is a player about to board my ship" which doesn't let that person have the ability to sneak attack me like they wanted to and vice versa. It makes it to easy to know where your enemy players are and gives no chance of anyone wanting to ninja a scenario lol.
Anyways, would like to hear opinions of what you guys think or why you like the way the mermaids currently work.

    Happy Sailing Everyone!

Yeah and some dude told me earlier this same post by a different person was a joke thread. Hope he sees this one as well. This is a very sad thread 👎

  • @sillycolt302271 Didn't quite get your reply?

  • yea its kinda annoying the amount of times i have stopped a boarder because i heard a mermaid spawn. its kinda an annoying give away however making them invisible i think isn't the best solution the player should be able to "summon" the mermaid when they are far enough away by opening their menu or something similar like a flare they can drop. that a mermaid will come to. that way you cant use your invisible mermaid as a sneaky unfair escape that the enemy cant see.

You will see once the other guy comes here 🤦‍♂️. Anyways, no man, never make the mermaid invisible. That is like the last defense against outpost campers. If you are one of them then you suck.

If not, the yeah there are plenty of those people. If they are hiding behind a tent they shouldn’t be allowed to and jack someone, it should just be reversed. No pvp involved at all

  • @noobosoarus Summoning a mermaid "when far enough away from your ship" sounds like a great Idea as well! Where the enemy can still see it, but only when you do it. Currently the way the mermaids work "spawning near a player" essentially giving away their position when they didn't want to be seen I think makes it to easy for the opposing player and defeats the purpose of being able to sneak onto a ship without being seen. Again that is my opinion on it. Thx for the reply!

  • @sillycolt302271 Its a pirate game. Its a strategic play, If the person who holds the key doesn't comb the island first before opening the vault, it is a risk they are taking in opening the vault and potentially losing the loot. If you get killed by the player who camped it waiting for you to open it without you checking first, who really sucks then? Common sense really. Check first open later. It's honestly kinda dumb when the enemy can see a mermaid nearby and KNOW someone is there. What fun is there in that? Almost like the game is cheating for ya. Anyway, thx for your reply and opinion. I do get what you're saying tho.

  • @SillyColt302271 You have a nameplate, the skull fort islands aren't very extensive, you don't need to "cash" the key in right away you can wait for threats to ease off first. when you get the key you should check the island, if someone gets the jump on you that's you fault. but if your trying the jump someone and they only knew because of the mermaid that's out of their hands. fort camping is totally okay they have no respawn, they have to hide, name plate+small islands make hiding hard. plus if you haven't cleared the fort yet the Ai's will give them away for you. if you get jumped at a fort, you were outplayed.
