Sea of Bots and no way to get rid of em

  • Hello together,

i wonder why i can't read anything about it, because it is so present to me. I got it so much times now that in a random Galleon Crew a Bot joined up that just stays in the lower Portion of the Ship and waits to grab some loot for doing nothing. There is no Way to kick such people nor to report em properly. So i decided to open this thread and hopefully someone of the devs team can take a stand to this topic. Today i found a new type of Bot that hides from his own Crew on the Ship for death players.
There is urgently some mechanic needed to get rid of such people. Actually you can lock em into the brig, but the bot doesn't really care about and nothing changes because youre 3 people that have to manage the ship with no new one able to join.

I made a Video of the Bot aswell SotBot-Youtube

  • @dasboeseblub1 It's more likely just a player who joins and AFKs since they won't be able to be kicked than an actual bot. But I do think Rare needs to add that kick option sooner rather than later. Personally I just avoid random crews at all costs, mostly because I read stuff like this nonstop.

  • @blg-strong-dad have you looked my video? He walks the exact same pattern the whole vid and has done dis for over an hour. I died sometimes and this guy was up all the time. Don't even know his crew recognized that there is a crew member that never showed up.

  • He has probably elastic banded his controllers to avoided getting kicked for afk.

  • Just leave the session and don't given them any reward. Cash in what you have and move on.

  • @dasboeseblub1 Invite only sessions... I may be wrong but I get the sneaky feeling there is people using aimbots already in the game as well :(

  • @dasboeseblub1 i didn't see the video, but i'm pretty sure is a simple macro that you can create with any gaming mouse/keyboard

  • Lastnight i had my first experience with this type of fellow Pirate.

Was in a duo sloop session my crew mate had to dip so i wait in port for a random to set sail with. Low and behold one shows up 10 min later (much drinking and music played) However something seems off with this Pirate from the get go due in part to them simply running in a circle around the mast... 10 min pass with me attempting communication... nothing...
"Arrrrrg well" i think time to set sail!

Away we go, off into the murky night one coherent able Pirate and his (looks less than able) Salty Nutmeg crewmate who is still running in circles around the mast at this point... and continued to do so at times in hilarious fashion whilst we were fired upon. I think i even screamed at them for assistance more than once then membered they were stuck in the dance of the Nutmeg...

I'll skip ahead and save you the pain of our voyages story, mainly due in part to it being a boring one suffice to say after an hour however the Order of Souls quest was completed and we were setting of back to port.
This is where my Salty Nutmeg of a crew mate stops his dance and types in chat "Hello sorry i was afk" to which i reply "Not cool but it's fine ye Salty Nutmeg" needless to say they seemed rather genuine as we entered port. We proceed to cache in the first 2 skulls and as soon as they do the one they have... P**F just like that they dc from the session.

Guess this sort of thing is bound to happen from time to time.
No idea if a kick option would be the best solution (i have none other i could suggest) think i'll just try to make the best of it when and if it does happen again. Like to give people the benefit of the doubt but when all else fails there is the report function. I understand the total frustration it causes to any given session though.
    Fair winds and Good Hunting.

  • @hammy-hamstar 3 decent people have to left a fully stocked ship with maybe 300 cannonballs, 100 bananas, 100 planks for a guy that then joins another game to ruin the next galleon? doesnt seems like a good solution to me. Maybe time for some banhammer to get rid of those people. Nobody needs such people in a game where is no decent content and the whole expirience is community based.

  • @dasboeseblub1 Rare have already announced that they are looking at the management of slots in crews. Until then we have to compromise and not reward people acting in this way.
