The issue is not crossplay but hackers

  • I love crossplay as I get to play with console and pc players my only issue is people who cheat I don't understand how it works cheat codes /Marcos etc. .

but I cant get my head round why would you cheat if when I buy a game I would get no satisfaction out of being invincible or having no challenge .

I have no issues being defeated but last night I came across a crew who could shoot me through walls of the ship and one shot kills from other end of ship with flint lock sad really but I just changed servers as I wont let this ruin the game for me .

Please rare make it Game over for cheats

  • @gta5dude74 Because people want to "win" no matter what.
It's the instant gratification that drives them.

  • I can honestly see a really easy fix here, Block this game from 14 day trials of gamepass. Cheating is bluntly higher when you are given a chance to use it for free.

People are much less inclined to get their real account blocked on a game their paying monthly or payed fully to play, till rare has gotten this under control they could simply disable SOT from 14 day trials.

This being said in my 30 hours of gameplay I have yet to see 1 cheater.

  • Thats rubbish. Not all game pass players are hacking/cheating, and taking away the 14 day trial won't stop it.
Only a few pc players are hacking, which is ruining the game for everyone.
Being a xbox player im extremely annoyed red isn't terminating cross platform as this would solve the hacking issue for the millions of xbox players.
Even if its only short term, xbox players shouldn't have to suffer if theres a fix!

  • @acekaze24 they are out there as I have come across them and it was not the case that we played bad as myself and other crew m8's are all pioneers and feel we are reasonable players but what was happening was beyond the game mechanics and one shot kills from great distances with flintlock crazy kills .

I shoot one of the cheats three times point blank with blunder buster and they killed me with one strike of sword and I had full health .

Just like not all game pass players are cheating, not all PC players cheat either.

I play on PC and my friend plays Xbox, so its just as unfair to stop cross-play as it is to ban the trial pass.

  • I think the suggestion to stop cross play due to savings Xbox users from hackers is a little unfair, considering PC players have to deal with them also. The problem isn't cross play, the problem is hackers.

  • I'm a PC player AND a Game Pass player and I don't cheat. I love this idea that it's the Game Pass players. What evidence do you have for that other than what you've made up? What's the explanation for all the cheaters in other games where Game Pass doesn't exist? But with SoT it can only be Game Pass players? Give me a break.

  • @fullmetaljakee
PC players have always had to deal with them, it's the nature of the beast! There have always been & will always be cheats/mods & hacks for pc games!
Xbox One players haven't had to & shouldn't have to deal with PC players who cheat.
We pay to play online in a relatively safe, cheat free environment. Anyone caught hacking will get console banned, basically rendering the console useless, so not many try!
Now crossplay is here & we have PC players coming into our online community free of charge & are bringing cheats/hacks & mods with them. If a PC player gets caught cheating so what, they start another GT & can basically carry on!
Don't get me wrong, i don't want crossplay removed as a lot of my regular SOT buddies are PC players, i just want the option to disable it if people want to.

  • The vast majority of players doesn't use hacks. I'd say less than one in 1000 of PC gamers.

The crazy accurate shots... You do realize the game has crazy accurate weapons? Like, it doesn't make a difference if I use the eye of reach or the pistol. Guaranteed hit with just very basic aiming skills.

The only cheats that reasonably work cost money.

It doesn't add up. Play the game for free, but spend money on a shady website for a hack?

  • @fullmetaljakee give us the options.. all players, xbox only or PC only server only.

  • @mrlwolf00 no. I am very happy to finally have a fps that treats console and PC gamers equally and fairly.

I already made many new friends in the game thanks to CROSSPLAY.

I have not seen a single hacker.

You folks need to get the knots out of your rigging.

  • @logansdadtoo Yes its why i brought a xbox, for the level playing field .. I don't want to have to deal with Flying ships, Aim bot/find bot, rapid fire cannons or auto get stock hacks.

  • @gta5dude74 lol I solo sunk this ship 3 times and the guy messages me "nice hacks C**T i got it all recorded" I just was like w*f? lol?

However, getting shot through wooden hull from the outside? That's suspect. However, skeletons have shot me through the wood part of the boat before.. that's super frustrating. I don't even know why anyone would bother hacking in a game that has no ladder or linear progression. Just for the luls maybe? either way, sucks.

I will continue to keep on enjoying the hell out of this game. 34/32/25 respectively already in rank...

  • @octopus-lime i disagree.
If one platform is killing the other (which it is) it should be removed before it seriously affects the rest of the players on xbox and they quit. It damages the game in the long run.

  • @kyser-soze-23 the company is not going to take away access to the pc players, you whiny console kids will get your own servers, and more than likely still encounter hackers and whine. the company makes money from both platforms, therefore they will keep both

  • Why would i want to do that? So i can experience hacking in every single game id buy for pc!
Sorry dude but ill stick with xbox.
    Please don't miss understand me.
Im a big fan of cross platform if its safe and fair but at this time, its not possable.

  • i wasn't even aware that metro games could be hacked at present. That kinda defeats the whole windows s platform as its marketed as secure.
edit, didn't even realise they dropped s already lol but point remains the store apps are supposed to be ultra secure.

  • The game was sold as a cross play title, it's too late for them to change it now even if they wanted to. Deal with it.

Also I've heard they can ban your Win10 license from playing, which is about equivalent to two years of XBL. So there's that.

  • @thygrrr ok, you haven't seen any .. I could be unlucky, but in the past 2-3 days we haven't got a single treasure back, hours unfairly waisted,
I play with different crews & friends, they are saying the same, as well as many on the forums ...
So when you find and see flying boats or boats that appear from nowhere, rapid fire sloops, explosive barrel appearing out of thin air, people never missing a shot from any distance with a pistol, constant headshots with canons, even when your inside the ship, seeing where you are at any point through walls, you might see our point?
these videos are popping up on youtube .. have a look!
Its not fun. its a game, games have rules, and are fun right?

Please search cheater on SOF youtube its rife.
I want to cross play, my son has this game, I'm asking for fairness, or option to opt out or go PVE.

I agree with this, there is cheaters on xbox (in general, not this game, could be who knows) but its nothing in comparison to PC. Everytime ive seen this topic come up on the forums I see the same response of "but xbox has cheaters too" which they do but its a grain of sand in an ocean when compared to pc and comes at a greater risk. Xbox players have to pay for live and that service is being tarnished by pc players who get free access and are bringing cheats into the game. Why should xbox have to pay to suffer?

I like crossplay, its good for games that arent pvp centric (lets be honest here SoT isnt cod now) but something will have to change. When allegedly one of the SoT cheats available has 250k downloads a few days ago, which is ridiculous, its down to the developers to fix it but I also think its MS problem that enables this. How I dont know, if they charge pc players access I think that will scare alot of people off, but they sure as heck wont make xbox free so only solution is to make crossplay optional.

  • @gta5dude74 I have played a lot. All the betas as well. I have not seen any hackers.

  • @kyser-soze-23

I think the term 'Killing the game' is a bit extreme, I myself haven't had any problems with hackers at all and I have played a lot of hours. I'm not saying that hacks are not out there though.

I also think its easy for some people to cry 'HACKER' when they get beaten rather than except the fact that they just got outplayed.

you do realize that the game pass trials are on real accounts? You should also realize that the 14 day game pass is on the xbox, where cheating is 1000% harder to pull off than downloading a hack off a website and hitting the install button to start cheating right? What you said about blocking game pass to stop cheats is simply the dumbest thing I read this morning, when it comes to all gamepass users....this is edited btw, someone pointed out gamepass is on pc too.....now if you said blocking gamepass to pc users, I could agree but to all gamepass users this is still the dumbest suggestion I read all day!

  • @mrlwolf00 That is hardly definitive proof. I'm not going to click that nor should anyone else. Just because a site says they offer hacks doesn't mean its true. Could be a malware page or just fishing for your personal info. Find some real proof please and pass it on to support. Posting about it here will effect no change.

  • @jumpiestdust213 You seem to be misunderstanding something here, gamepass exists on PC also, all my friends are trying SOT trough the free trial ON PC, meaning anyone can create a fake account and try hacks on a 14 free trial gamepass without heavy penaltys ON PC.

  • @logansdadtoo
You do make good points and I can see why people are frustrated. However I do think that the chances of single players coming across hackers more than a few times will be so minor, that removing crossplay or even working in the options would be almost pointless. I've played hundreds if not thousand of hours on Pc games which have hackers in them, I've only ever had two encounters.

  • @jack-straw207 NO don't click anything fair sorry .. search for your self
as for proof, I have seen cannon rapid fire, I can't load and fire that quick, its not possible on xbox.
headshots with pistols while sailing, on different ships on rough water, not impossible but every shot? every time on everyone Really? smells fishy!
respawn and the same thing happens over and over and over wish i had a video i could show you, ill try and get it captured! if i can bring myself to switch this game on again. that's how infuriating me and friends are finding it.
see you tube here if you like or search SOF cheat https://youtu.be/3wJux3fde6w

  • @octopus-lime i dont think its extreme at all.
If you really look you will see it.
Last night myself and a friend got attacked on a sloop by a sloop, that 1 cannon took out my friend and sunk our ship in under 20 seconds! That cannon was firing unbelievably fast. As in not normally possable. The game is rife with it.

thank you for pointing this out to me! I did not know this and you may consider my previous response to be bull c**p! I was uniformed and ignorant! thank you again for correcting me1 It is much appreciated!

...btw..this is the edited part, I did change my previous statement to reflect this knowledge, thank you again for pointing out the fallacy in my response. I appreciate being corrected and having the chance to learn from it! thank you and have a wonderful day!

  • @jumpiestdust213 Its alright! We are all the same community just worried about the same game. Ultimately nothing that we say will matter and rare needs to come forward with their own solutions or risk losing their own player base.

  • On the 20th March I and the crew I was sailing with first experienced the “invincible pirate” who gladly boasted that we could not kill him, he was also yelling expletives at us.

We tried to record the footage so we could grap his username, but the system did not and as he was a PC player the name did not show in recent players list either.

The minority are spoiling it for the majority and it’s difficult to combat cheaters, as fix one flaw and they’ll find another.

I love this game and have been a regular player in the Pioneer sessions. But since launch I have played it less due to the issues mentioned in this thread.

Better matching options may be the way forward.

  • What if they implement some sort of anti cheat program?
