Game suggestions

  • @fugxslayer You're misreading the rules. They're saying settle disputes in game and keep things civil, not that combat should literally be restricted to the water.

  • @isukun but I just don’t understand how it’s civil to literally kill the same person spawning on a island over and over to the point they can’t grab a quest. Maybe quest giver screen invincibility?

  • @fugxslayer Well the gaming community is so toxic now a days, I don't think that "civil" is a thing. It is a pirate game, so I get the aspect of ambushing, etc. But literally just spawn camping the outpost, or someone in general is a pathetic tactic. Probably from people that aren't really good at the game. But Over all, they're just ideas and opinions. Like mine and your post say, safe zones honestly imo, would be the best bet for making the pve aspect more enjoyable. There is a ton of features and things they could add to this game, to really make it a true online experience.

  • @fugxslayer It's not really civil, but the point of the game is that with more success comes more risk. People are going to take whatever opportunities they can to steal what you have, that's the "Thieves" part of Sea of Thieves. Spawn camping could be seen as abusive behavior in game, but I think that's more an issue for game moderators than the core game mechanics. PvP is kind of a core feature in the game. A lot of the game mechanics don't work without the constant risk of people taking what you have. You're never safe until goods, chests, or skulls are turned in. If people take it further than that, then yes, there should be a system in place to report them and temporary bans granted to those who purposely abuse other players. Beyond that, though, it's up to you to look for signs of danger. Ambushes can be spotted. Ports will either have a ship or a mermaid if there are people waiting there for you, so there isn't really any way to hide your presence if people know what to look for.

  • @isukun I’m not asking for pvp to be eliminated or anything like that, I just want to access quests and not get trolled because they’re bored. I understand the aspect of thieving and such, but ppl literally abusing the system which is laid out already. On another note do you think that they should have a kick option in crews ? Like when they’re is a super unhelpful person or no mic on the boat and you’d rather try and find a better crewman

  • @fugxslayer I do think they should have an option to kick. The brig is not a reasonable way to indicate when a player isn't wanted. I think it should be tied to placing people in the brig, however, since the brig idea isn't completely bad for discouraging annoying behavior. So you would have to brig someone first, then you have the opportunity to kick them with a second vote. To accommodate this, the player who has been on a ship the longest gets two votes. That way people on sloops can also kick an unwanted player if they need to, but it puts the power in the hands of the player who was on that ship the longest.

  • @imxpissed Safe zones will ruin the game, but the other ideas are good ideas!

  • @isukun They for sure need a kick option. More than anything to be honest. I like the brig, but people troll that way as well, had a dude not leave, even though we asked nicely and he just stayed in the brig for 2 hours. Even let him out to ask him if he would help this time, still nothing. Basically, he was the one with the power at that point, because we were left with just putting him in a brig at that point, basically losing out on a player, giving us a disadvantage. At the time we were trying to do a fort, so didn't really want to leave and try to get another ship and crew going.

  • @fisharefriend69 People do seem to be heavily against the safe system lol. Which, I do see the points. I'm just one of those people who want to achieve Legendary status, to get to end game. Where Rare states the real game begins. I don't want it to be easy, but I would like to be able to complete some quest without getting wrecked. Mainly by people on PC. A fix even that would satisfy me, is the option to choose to play with windows 10 people via settings within the game.

  • @isukun brig then kick is a great idea, also gives that player that has been sent to brig a chance to straighten up.
    I support that 100%,
I really want to see this game do well, I feel that as long as rare keeps listening to the community and making a effort to adhere to the needs of the players I’ll stay onboard.i feel that this game is just starting out and it will truly be something legendary

  • @fugxslayer I second that.

  • @isukun once again people are being outpost campers,
How is that satisfying? Example: hey guess let’s play sea of thieves! 2hrs of questing/ship battles/fighting off scary pirates trying to board/sailing dangerous storms/Fort Raids, then to decide okay outpost bound ! Good haul boys! Pick up cargo to go collect, navigate through sneaking around outpost(keep in mind you are defenseless, and cannot sprint) finally getting to said faction to collect, BAM!!! Griefer hiding in a corner of a shop/tent grabs you loot and continues to get you after spawn when there is no rhyme or reason. Griefer literally spawn in and sink there ship, and wait on island, never sailing sea or questing unless it is to harass players consistently.
All I’m saying is people actually playing are getting effed, and ppl who are bored of call of duty just sit and wait. Who sounds like there actually playing game as intended?

  • @fugxslayer at least let us sprint while carrying items, or put out a bounty of a player, making them a wanted pirate, give us a zone of protection around traders. Those would fix all issues

  • @fugxslayer the. Again people might like being wanted... hmmm dang

  • I've personally seen alot of suggestions in hear that I would love to see implemented into the game at some point. Be it fishing or new items and quests. Different factors and so on and so forth. Personally I'd like to see them implement more with Davy jones. Maybe instead of a cost to death like I saw they decided against. Maybe he makes you go do a quest for him or maybe he's his own faction in itself. I'd love to see alot of things done with him and the ship of the damned and I hope they do, do more with him

  • @fugxslayer And like I said before, if someone is on an island, there is always a visual indication that can be seen before you drop anchor. If they are sinking their ship, there will still be a mermaid at the island so they can respawn. I've seen people whouse finish tactics complaining about this. There is no way to camp out on an island without some telltale sign that you are there.

  • @glitchafj I totally agree with more depth with Davy Jones, It’s pirate lore that should not be simple spawning. Maybe after like 10 deaths you’d have to collect (insert gamer tag here) skull for whatever reason, and upon failure to do so in next life results in a longer time of respawn or a gold cost for life until you bring him his prize

  • @isukun a mermaid is the only indication if they are careful, but still how are you supposed to see that after docking? I look all around me island looks clear I go
I’m struggling man is all. Help me understand

  • @imxpissed most of this stuff i also talked about with my friends and wish me some things in the future

  • @fugxslayer agreed obviously. That's kind of what I was thinking. Just make more with him and hell make that an entire other world to do stuff in like I said he'd make a cool faction on his own. I'd love to do quest for him. For God sake he doesn't even have any dialog we witch sucks

  • @glitchafj he could at least say argh ! Your soul is mine !!

  • @fugxslayer You can see it before you dock. It's a glowing mermaid holding a lantern on the surface of the water. They're not exactly hidden.

  • Seadogs, avast! Say ye are grabbing cannonballs because a scurvy bunch of landlubbers be tryin' to broadside;

    Instead of spamming x,

Hold X to take all you can. Hold Y to drop all you can!

    What say ye!

Other tap/hold options could open up as well

  • In full agreement with the outposts being safe zones where you would not be able to kill each other/fire cannons/ steal other ship's booty. I think there's been a number of players who are just staying at an outpost waiting for people to come in, kill them and take the treasures for themselves. The 'Pirates Code" would have these outposts as neutral ground where nothing like that could happen.

  • @isukun okay I understand that, but your not answering the question of when they’ve spawned in ,destroyed boat ,and proceeded. How do you detect that ?
I’m not really understanding how making certain outposts safe would “destroy pvp mechanic” your still able to go out to see pvp your butt off win boats for treasure, sneaking into boats that are dock at island looking for for treasures, fort fights , I mean a hub to turn in stuff would make things better. You said everyone would just go to those safe zones and troll around them.. okay so destroy their blockades get through their defense and victory is yours, ppl still would have a chance to be raided, and also have a chance to succeed

  • @lyndonsg exactly I’m not saying get rid of the pvp and steal your treasures and ambushing tactics etc.. just make outposts neutral

  • @fugxslayer I just told you how you detect that. When a boat is destroyed, a mermaid appears so you can respawn your boat. That is visible to other players. So if they spawn on an island and sink their boat, there will still be a mermaid in the water that you can see. So if you see an outpost with a mermaid and no boat, odds are, there's an ambush waiting for you. That ANSWERS your question.

As for blockades, I never said anything about that. I said ambushes are a viable tactic. I don't see any reason to make outposts a safe space. Until you've dropped off your treasure, skulls, or goods, you're fair game for other crews. That's the way the game was designed. It's a pirate game about pirates.

  • @isukun what if they just disabled weapons on outposts ? That way you could still steal ? Or actually leave things how they are and making crew having the ability to lock doors of brig on ship? You’d have to pick lock or pick pocket of crew? Or kill them for key ? I’m just thinking things

  • @glitchafj yeah, I do think that would be cool as well. It they could even turn him into a world event, some what like the kraken, except a ship battle with him. Or the faction idea would be cool as well.

  • @lyndonsg I'm glad at least someone else agrees. I feel a good portion of people who don't, are some of the issues. Don't get me wrong, I like pvp as well. It gets your heart pumping and makes things interesting, but people who are being pathetic and just spawn camping, that isn't true PvP. I imagine rare wanted battles to mainly be done with ships.

  • @fugxslayer Why would you disable weapons? Then someone could just jump on board and start taking your loot and you have no way of stopping them. That would be even more aggravating.

I really don't see why the game should be changed because some players can't figure out how to approach a situation. You don't need to rush blindly into a an ambush. They telegraph their presence and they don't have a boat. If you have a crew, send a scout. If you're by yourself, jump ship with it sailing in a safe direction. Either way, if the outpost is problematic, it's easy to get back to the ship and keep sailing without ever risking your treasure. They'll have to spend time respawning their ship to catch up to you.

Besides, a lot of this could be resolved just by changing the respawn mechanics so ships respawn at least ten grid spaces away. Then, once you've killed the ambush crew, they won't respawn anywhere near you. As long as your ship is afloat, you would have the advantage because your crew would be able to respawn there, while their numbers would dwindle. It would take a away a lot of the appeal of this strategy, while still keeping outposts a point of contention.

  • @isukun you know what ? I agree that would fix the issue. Spawning fixes would solve that and encourage better tactics in pvp
We’ve found a solution! Now someone tell rare lol

  • @fugxslayer but I still like the brig keys idea thingy lol

  • @isukun the fact of the matter is. Safe zones, even just around the shops, would not change the game for PvP players, or even ambushers, greifers. I look at it like this, if they can't kill you before you get to the outpost, or before you get to the tent, then they're clearly not good. I like pvp, but I'm no coward who takes the easy way out. That's not fun. I'd rather just try to have a fun battle, by sinking a ship, repairing and getting the feeling of success. Killing someone while they're close to turning in a chest. I like to work for my gains. The fact that so many people are so against this idea, for even around shops shows me what kind of players are in the game. This game has so much potential, rare is listening to the community, which is wonderful. So hopefully they take into consideration of all players outlooks.

  • @imxpissed how can you be a coward in a video game? It's a game... lol. This isn't real life, bro.
