Game lacking substance?

  • Hey, is it just me or does this game feel that is lacking in content, for a £50 game i thought it would have far more than the Open Beta's had to offer, however I've come to realise that the repetitive grind is all the game has to offer, there is little reward for PvP and a progression system that is irrelevant, in my opinion the game doesn't reward time played or experience of great value, the two ships makes the game extremely repetitive and limits individuality. I'd say to improve the game, have some level of useful ship customization (a second layer of cannons) or at least some more ship types; a merchant vessel designed for carrying cargo and having a greater resistance to large arms fire, maybe a ship that has two or more levels of cannons but little maneuverability. This i feel would greatly improve the game, because in my opinion the game won't last long and people will become bored, quickly.

  • Yea It’s a ripoff and there’s nothing to do anymore

  • The Game Needs Far More.

The way the game stands it is not enough, even things as simple as trading or hunting for animals or whales even the numerous sharks would add to the game.

For me the biggest things I am looking for is a community. Give us a guild system, or fleets. Let us customise ourcships completely, give us custom flags, things to make a ship our own.
I would also like to see NPC ships, maybe things like the Spanish treasure ship full of resources and gold that takes a group working together to capture.

For weapons let us have chain shot, scatter shot, explosive balls. Even things like swivel guns could add a way to take out sails and slow a ship down.
Let us create our own outfits, even if it's a case that we have to collect resources to make cloth, buttons, dyes and the such. Let us create or atleast customize our own weapons or cannons.

  • Fishing would be nice
    Trading would be nice
    alliances would be nice
    selling sharks would be nice
    cards would be nice

... i dont think we got ripped off, but i do think theres room for alot more.

it takes alot to develop a game. like alot.
you have to appreciate the small things, this game is pretty much glitch free, the way the ship sails on the water. its not a simple line of code to do that you know. the way the ship is part under water but you dont see the water in the ship unless its flooding.. its all done really well .

the game is just really well made, everything they have is polished.

Yes. This game is very well polished which is a Rare© quality :)
    -Love Rare games.

anyways I love the game, have loads of fun playing, but i see my boredom setting in as time goes on as I do not care that much for cosmetics. I love customizing and creating your own, but to make it the sole purpose of the grind. ehhh.

I will say I bought the game not fully reasearching it, and I am disappointed there is no upgrading ships or guns or anything. The grind is much more fun when you know you get to put a small deck cannon on the rail of the ship for those close encounters. Or upgrade your sail to move faster, or buy cannons that hold multiple shots to reduce reload times for that initial attack. new rifle. etc.. etc.. etc.. there are a million possibilities here

Sure all this adds balancing issues, but its not a barrier that hasn't been breached before.

Grinding for cosmetics doesn't keep a play base. Players want to change their "Experience" just as much as their clothes

  • @blitzed45 I like the ideas. I'm sure there are things in the works. Rare may be waiting on player feedback and the additional testing implementing those new things into the game.

I'd like to see just straight merchant missions i.e. pick up cargo from one outpost and deliver to another outpost or island. Sport fishing would be a cool addition as well as casting nets close to shore to collect those tropical fish schools.

I like the treasure galleon idea. These could be community events similar to Destiny. Fleets would be cool, but could potentially dominate a server. Other ships would need to be able to outrun a trailing fleet and I'm not sure map is big enough to truly hide for long.

I think the game is well made and has a solid core in place. I have found glitches with frame rate stutter and my character bouncing from helm onto mast ladder on the sloop or going into hold only to reappear on deck. I am playing on the One X. I'm sure patches will come out to correct these minor issues.

I hope Rare sticks with the game, but I do see problems with continued support without some type of microtransactions. These should be for cosmetic things, not for advantage. There should be a grind in place to upgrade performance of ship and weapons. I also believe that chest armor should be added to give a small boost to protecting health.

  • Yea it needs more
    Mini games
    Fishing
    Maybe cooking food
    Seeing the treasure you found?
I feel like im just selling a cool looking box
    More character and ship customization
Maybe have like your safe place be like a home island. You could dock your ship and do all your customizing there.
Even have your own little house or tent for you an the crew. There is allot that can be put into this game. I really hope they do. I really like it other then playing solo. Solo is pretty challenging.
