Anything being done about the in-game player trolls?

  • Is anything being done about the in-game trolls?

It is not enjoyable to help a crew out with completing a mission and immediately after they put you in the brig and leave you there because they think it's funny and just want to troll.

This has happened several times. It does NOT make for a good experience since have to leave game, run through the main menu, then wait to load up screen, then wait even further to load into a game.

  • @lemieux I don't know if or what Rare can do about it but you should always report and block them.

Now I think about, Rare can implement (1) New crew mates cannot lock someone else in the brig in the first 20 mins of spawn (2) When there's not enough votes to release a pirate then all the locked pirates should be released

  • These are the type of players that rare want to be rid of. Apologies for the griefing!

  • @lemieux then report them for "trolling" or play solo/ with friends only. plus you still get rewards for chest/ skull hand-ins even when you're in the brig. 'But I don't have anyone to play with' well use this forum to find friendly pirates to play with.

  • @ser-pineapples

I report (with use of the Add Comment feature "Player with their friends placed me in brig on Sea of Thieves for no reason than other to troll after helping them with their mission. So now I have to waste time exiting game and reloading into another game. Such a terrible experience on Xbox Live.") and I also Mute them.

Muting people that you "report" is crucial. When I see muted person again, I know they are toxic. This also helps if they change their gamertag since it will still reflect mute.

If a player(s) engage in this behavior a few times they should be straight up banned from Sea of Thieves. If this is done regularly people will cease to behave like trolls for no reason.

  • Just hang out in the brig. You still get the rewards for turn ins. Hell, I got bigger after running a galleon by myself and was like "ok, they van do it without me". The trick is to not get mad. That's why they do it in the first place. They told me to apologize and I said no. Then they let me out. Easy enough.

Oh, nice. You are playing with 4 friends, one of us exit the game, a random player enters, starts disturbing and trolling but we can't lock him because of that during 20 min. So great.

If it is real that it happened several times maybe you are having really bad luck. Don't make a drama.

  • playing any internet game with strangers will have it's good times..

..and bad times. Use discord to find a group, most people on discord are looking for pick up groups like you and will be more inclined towards working as a team with people they just met.

  • @cptncuttlefish

Was going to do that, but they kept on doing missions, not turning anything in.

People play video games for different reasons, of course.

Mine is after long stressful day at work in the medical field (radiologic technologist), I just want to relax and play a game and have fun. Sitting in the brig is not all that fun to be honest.

  • @guepard4

You are being quite rude with your choice of words and tone. Not very nice.

  • -cough cough- that's why I play solo when my friends can't make it. Plus it would be cool to form a "Fleet" (Fleet instead of clan just to keep it pirate like, arrrrrr) that way if you bump into a friendly guy you can invite one another under the same flag, so to say. Or something along those lines.

  • @lemieux no its not fun, but you can do other things while in the brig, like read a book or play some god awefull mobile game until they release you. Can't let them get to you matey, that's how they win.

    No argument there.

But they need to be banned with repeated behavior. It just ruins people's fun though.

  • @lemieux I can agree with that, though I don't think it's a banable action. Yea it's annoying, but no rules are really being broken.

Hopefully they will look into "trolling" as an offense. When a person spends money to play a game and people do nothing but troll to ruin your experience that is not good behavior.

I use the block feature so that I never get matchmaked with them but that's a good idea since someone might invite the trolls and by muting them I keep track who I previously had a run-in with.

Yes! Please tell Rare or Xbox have something like this? At least something that resembles as a punishment for the trolls - e.g. coin & reputation reduction/reset.

You misunderstood me. New crew mates do not get a vote in locking others in the first 20 mins of spawning. This way 3 friends cannot join a random lobby and lock the random.

Mm... I agree then. It should be implemended.

But it won't solve this topic problem since they trolled AFTER the quest. 20 min won't stop them. But for other cases is a good idea.

Yep, also by not leaving you're not giving them the satisfaction of getting their friend onboard and they're at a disadvantaged at PvP.

Also people, if a random joins a lobby while you were waiting for a friend to take the spot, tell the random instead of locking him up hoping him to leave smh

You're right. That's why we as a community need to mitigate the problem by reporting, muting and blocking while Rare adapts by implementing safer design choices to minimize the troll's exploits

  • often times they don't want to troll. If you join a 3 man crew don't steer, wait form them, help them, don't try and be the captain. And sometimes they are waiting for friends and that's why they put you in the brig.

Then if they send a party invite and communicate with you instead of trolling and/or being immature, it would be much better experience for all involved.

Simple solution. Communicate. Don't be a jerk to someone that joined. Could miss out on one heck of a cool friend by electing to be a jerk.

Yes, you are correct! They are being a pirate.

Which this also means they need to follow this thing called the Pirate Code that Rare has posted in several places. Let me share with you couple key points.

    Article 2
The Sea Unites Us as One Community
Outside the heat of battle or piracy on the high seas, all crews shall bond together as a community of like-minded souls.

    Article 4
    All Crewmates Are Equal
Let each crewmate be respected as equal and free to follow their own bearing, speak openly and vote in affairs of the voyage.

    Article 6
Respect New Pirates and Their Voyage Ahead
May the old legends help to forge new ones: treat new pirates with respect and share your knowledge.

    Article 7
Those Who Cheat Shall Be Punished
Pirates who show bad form and cheat their crew or others shall surely face bitter hardships and punishments.

    Ummm, yep.

Sounds to me when Rare finally drops the banhammer on people who are acting like jerks, just for the sake of acting like jerks, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Strongly suggest that you acquaint yourself with said Pirate Code.
