So based on the nature of my job, I sometimes come home late and the people I share the house with are usually asleep when I get home, so voice chat is not always an option if I want to have a late night gaming session. The in-game chat wheel on Xbox is great, but sometimes I can't reply to specific voice chat or PC chat questions. For other games, I usually load up my Xbox app on my phone and text messages to people if needed, and it usually ends up working pretty well. I thought it'd be an interesting idea if somewhere down the line Rare created a SoT companion app for your phone where you can text directly to the in-game crew chat, eliminating the need to open your Xbox messages every time you want to view/write a message, and allowing much more fluid communication throughout both platforms. I know it's quite a stretch, but I believe many people would get great use out of it. What are your thoughts? Think it could work/help, or would it just complicate things? Sorry if I posted in the wrong category, new to the whole forum thing.
An idea for SoT companion app for phones that allows "texting" to in game crew chat
@cpt-peach-beard True, but I'm mostly concerned about random pickup groups. It would all be internal. Whenever I send a message to someone playing on PC they don't usually see it until after we're done playing, but I can see their chat instantly on the top left of the screen. Makes for somewhat of a disconnect. But I can see it going either way; could be just as clunky as the Xbox messenger app.
@uberkull Yes, I have tried it but they usually have to open their message app on the Xbox if they don't have the app, which can take away valuable time in case something fast paced is happening, and PC players tend to not check messages until after they're finished playing, in my experience. I was thinking they could just add the text directly to the on-screen chat, just like PC players can type directly to crew chat to eliminate any out-of-game message checking.
