VPN to Access in case of rolling release?

  • @cebelicus sagte in VPN to Access in case of rolling release?:

@pigeonman-beam Ok, update last post to include bringing your Xbox from the US along with you, how does that go now?

Well, this thread is about getting early access via VPN from the region you are in to another region where it unlocks earlier, not about buying a game in one place, flying with the console to another region and playing there, right? ;) Also we are pirates. At least take a ship.

  • @x1-two I thought that's what the VPN would effectively do. I've done it to access other content early. It doesn't always work, but it does work.

  • You would have to do a region change in their store. I was reading up about it earlier. :(

  • Makes no sense...the server is turned on 00:00 on 20.03. UK time.

That makes 23:00 CET, here in germany on 19.03...it might look like its 1 hour earyler, yet its the same time just in another timezone.

  • @x1-two @Cebelicus I think you hit it on the spot VPN would be useless as the timezone it unlocks goes off the Region you bought the game from. You can still play the game where you go In most cases. Now Cebelicus it use to be like how you stated "Just buying Changing the timezone" however it was easily abused back in the day making Microsoft go down different route where you need to buy it from that regions store with their currency and a address in that area.

So for anyone wondering yes you can do this to get the game early. I have no clue if it breaks the Xbox live Code of Conduct do at your own risk. This may even break real world laws as you are skipping taxes in your country when buying digital game through a different store. "So please do at your own risk" Side note you are also giving a false address to a company. I'm sure they wont catch you but just heads up.

  • Here are the Server's opening times:

I do it on a regular basis...the internet is free and adresses are none of anyone's business and to be used as the user's like. While you are correct to warn the usual user...I will not comply to corporate info garthering more then I have to. Using real phone numbers and adresses in the net are...well...

And I am talking PC, if you have an xBox, you cant access its inbuild countycode without nulling the warranty.

0:00 UK time (GMT) would be 1:00 CET. UK is one hour behind. You are confused by the list, note that the unlock times are not in local times but in UTC. Germany is UTC+1, so the unlock here is 23:00+1.

  • @kustho I 100% agree you do you, honestly the chances of someone getting in legal trouble would be a waste of money for both the Gov and or Company. Just wanted to give fair warning that they may be breaking numerous laws. You never know what can happen.

Maybe..we are both confused ?!? UK is Greenwich...thats the 0...Germany is +1 I agree on that.

Else...that list is confusing and resulting on me clicking one "launch game" starting tomorrow morning once an hour.

    ;)

  • @pigeonman-beam I honestly didn't even have to use my VPN to access Curse of the Pharohs DLC for AC: Origins 17 hours early. I just changed my Xbox locale/timezone to NZ, downloaded, switched back to US locale and played the game. I've seen reps from EA, EA say they don't mind if you use VPN to access your paid content a little early. Why would they say they don't mind, if it doesn't work? I'm just gonna wait til Mon & find out.

Basically...you are paying tax on digital items, and that tax is paid to whatever country you have set as "your country" the moment you buy it...thats why corporates want to get that "setting" out of user hands asap.

Basically...we are consumers...all we want is that item when its available. Its sad that 2018 "smart" consumers are being put into a doubt of abusing a system.

  • @pigeonman-beam Trying not to confuse marketplace fraud for VPN access to games here. I'm talking about content already purchased. There is no avoiding taxes or anything else. It's bought & paid for legally.

  • Microsoft also says your games are tied to your gamertag & go with you. Well, Monday @7AM edt, my game is going with me to New Zealand! If we make it, hope I'll see some of you there!

  • @zeo What he meant is that even with a same time release people who lives in countries where the release is scheduled for 3 AM will not play right away, so they will be monitoring that the servers are doing fine while all the world wakes up/goes to sleep and start to play the next day.

  • @wturok
Like I said, I don't even expect the servers to be working by the time my country releases. I'll be playing the later day of.

  • @cebelicus That's very good question Cebelicus, I'm not sure about the EA Rep person talking about the VPN honestly companies won't care as long as they get their money. It's more over on Gov side of things that becomes a problem.

Now back on topic about the DLC, I'm not sure how DLC works in terms of downloading early. Your best bet man is just type in how to play Xbox games early most people, looking at that no one really understands how it works. Honestly you should give it a try and come back to inform us, I would love to know.
From comments and many videos there are three ways this work

    1. Like you said a timezone switch which allows you to play it early
2.Like you said a timezone switch which allow you to play it early however you need to start the download on that timezone for it to work.
3.Like you said a timezone switch but you need buy the game with that regions currency.

It's seems like no one can comment how it fully works but those are three everyone points at, I have tried

    1. Multiple times on games it always says it's to early.
    2. However I never tried to install the game on that timezone like some people say maybe this is where everyone is going wrong we are downloading the game on EST and everyone goes and says it doesn't work, when truly you need start the download on that timezone. Never know games might check the timezone first to make sure you are actually in that region.
    3. I know works for a fact many streamers do three to get games early.
  • @cebelicus you do understand the reasoning behind a rolling launch right? It is so the severs are not crushed by users trying to all play at the same time. Sure one user may not make a difference, but thousands could disrupt play for an entire region. This game pretty much broke the servers at time for the beta, I think it will be worse for launch.

You do you, but I personally can see the reason why waiting is fine. This isn't a life or death situation where you get to be one of the first to register for a heart to live. It is a video game and patience is the best response for this launch.

  • For anyone whos curious i just decided to have some rum with me ship mate's and wait for the release. #bemorepirateINGAME

While I understand reason, I’m terrified that once the US gets access, servers will be too strained to let us in, or will crash once we finally get to play after the long wait. I waited a long time for this game, so 10 more hours is nothing. But if I can’t play when I’m allowed to, queue the rage music from Kill Bill.
