im no longer hopeful about this game

@skuldleif Understandable everyone has preferences for games, One mans trash is another mans treasure.

    Arrrgg.. Someone say treasure? #PiratesLife

  • @skuldleif How do you know what's in the final cut of the game? Have you seen something I haven't?

The constant influx of this kind of post is extremely annoying over time. Nobody knows what's in the final game so saying there isn't enough is just fallacy at this point.

Maybe we should see what's there when the game releases before we decide if there is enough content?

  • @skuldleif Ya, I'm kinda ticked off that they waited until end of Beta to tell everyone this. I already have game pass and did not know it would be in that until I already pre ordered. The only advantage I get is some gear and access to Beta. Was kind of slimy to do that.

  • Can we just make a Mega Thread for all these people?

  • @balloonzoo46093 cancel the pre-order then?
I mean i know it for a looong time that the game is gonna be in the game pass?

  • if you dont think its worth the price wait till its on sale. ^.^

i on the other hand pre ordered it with no regrets. 100% worth $60.

  • @skuldleif Everyone calm down, this isn't Ubisoft or Activision we're talking about here. Those companies are greedy companies who don't care about the community and only want money. Rare on the other-hand is trustworthy and we can trust that they will make this game amazing. We shouldn't have to worry about it dying off in 2 months or it not having enough content. Also they are keeping ALOT of stuff secret from us that will be in the launch of the game.

  • @skuldleif said in im no longer hopeful about this game:

@thejolirouge I speak about the launch content it seems to be the same as the beta (with kraken and an other company),idc about whats next it is 4 years for what they have at launch

Assemble a team, spend millions of pounds over 4 years and come back and sell us a better game at whatever you think its worth. Either that or simply dont purchase sot and leave us fans to enjoy the hype knowing the game is worth the cost with the content we loved in the beta. You arnt a fan, we get it, stop wasting your time being negative here.

@cow80yup u want me to let u in ure sweet dream where everything is fine, sry to tell u the sad truth

We can already see the sad truth...

Can you cancel pre order after doing it? I thought I already paid for it? Did I not? lol

  • @pir4te-roberts LOL that was an awesome response lol.

  • @balloonzoo46093 i mean kinda depends where you buy it from, but why dont you just check your bank account? Usually you pay the day the game comes out.

  • @virginiaulme20 Oh c**p! I better make sure I have money in there! lol. I thought I paid already. That was months ago sooo. Its not a big deal, I want the gear anyway and I did get to play beta so its cool! Thanks! Friend me if you want to hook up in game. XBOX: OGShawnyboy

  • People keep using this as justification, but I think it needs to be said:

NEVER BUY EARLY ACCESS / GAME-AS-A-SERVICE GAMES BASED ON WHAT THEY COULD BE, BUT ON WHAT THEY ARE RIGHT NOW.

Both of these models are highly volatile. The developers could stop adding content at any time, particularly if it is no longer profitable for them to spend time on it.

If Sea of Thieves doesn't have any staying power, don't expect Rare to lose money by continuing to pump out content for a handful of people still playing it. Buy Sea of Thieves now if you like what provides, assuming that there will never be any other content added.

  • @d3adst1ck truer words have never been spoken. Agreed.
You keep cashing in and in the end you feel dissapointed bc it doesnt have the features you'd like to see. Both game-types are s****y anyways but thats another story.
    @BalloonZoo46093 will do me harty.

  • I can't wrap my ahead around this thinking. This game is far bigger than your typical shooter game. Do you complain about all multiplayer games or just this one?

  • I love the idea of games as a service. I played Killer Instinct for four years because of its pay model.
However there’s needs to be enough content at launch to justify £50 and there isn’t in SoT’s. I’m paying for the content I get at launch not what I could potentially get years down the line. If there isn’t enough incentive for players to stick around then guess what? Rare and Microsoft won’t keep giving us more content if there isn’t enough players to justify it.

I only found out today that even the microtransaction pets won’t be available at launch but in fact in a few months.

The game also launches without End game which is crazy to think about. End game comes out in the games first big content update 2-3 months later. End game should be in the game at launch and then expanded on through future patches.

There’s so much disappointment surrounding this game for me but only because of how good I know the game can be and should be.

  • @skuldleif Never understood the 'crying over price' argument. Even if you ONLY get 10 hours of play time out of this game, that's $6 an hour. Name something (that you need to pay for in RL) that costs less than $6 an hour. Me, I can easily see sinking at least 100 hours into this game, that's 60 cents an hour.

Bottom line, $60 is the baseline rate for XBOX games. They can't make it cheaper on PC. Get over it and get some perspective.

  • @pigeonman-beam dont worry about this dude in the last month maybe readed 20 of is post and hes always crying about something dont like it dont buy it and get the f*** out of the forum ez like this

  • I had the same problem as you when we transferred from alpha to beta. I saw no change between them, there was actually LESS content in the beta than the alpha at that point. I felt like there was no hope. I played this final beta, and I barely recognize the game. It has changed DRASTICALLY, and I am going to happily preorder. I trust Rare to make this game great, and I KNOW they have some secret things up their sleeves.

  • @deadtree-alive ure joking right? "I played this final beta, and I barely recognize the game"

  • Ok. Bye.

  • @deadtree-alive In what way did it change drastically? New fetch quests and new cosmetics?

  • @skuldleif
How many times are you going to keep posting this same rubbish in different threads? We get it, you dont wanna pay for the game. Unfortunately its cost money to play, so buy it or dont but for gods sake stop crying about it.

  • @lord-dyonsus its not me the problem and u damn well know it,this "Game" dont deserve our money

  • @skuldleif
No it doesnt deserve YOUR money. Dont you ever presume to speak for me. I have no issue with the game, its developers or its price.

  • @skuldleif personally ive already had over 140+ hrs of gaem time and still love it.. never have I laughed so hard with strangers .. and at 60$ thats less than 50 cents an hour .. game is cheap af in my opinion as stated in another thread id pay around 149.99 if i had to

  • @virginiaulme20 said in im no longer hopeful about this game:

@skuldleif yeah this whole "game as a service" package stinks to be honest. Just a copout to crate a game half-finished and then ask the players to cash in even more for soemthing you can call game then. We've seen that a dozen times over.

I hate Games as a Service. It means one day, I'll not be able to even play the game I love. I can still play games from the 80s and 90s. Can't play games 10 years from now that came out this year :(

Also, I think a pirate game like this, but having an offline mode and more PvE would be amazing. Black Flag without the assassin stuff and more fantasy. But even Ubisoft isn't interested in giving us that with Skull of Bones. It's a carbon copy of this game, without being able to get out of your ship.

  • 120 hours beta playtime and I haven't even paid for the game, I call that a heck of a deal.

  • I don't care if you like the game or dislike the game but I've seen quite a few people say that they place their full trust in Rare, that they know they can trust Rare, that Rare will definitely come through. I've said this before but please please stop giving Rare blind faith because of their name being on old games. The people(weird I know. I'm sure you guys thought a machine named Rare made those games) that made those have long since left. Rare's last game that wasn't Kinect shovelware was the despised Banjo & Kazooie game that people won't even acknowledge being a part of the series. The current Rare has nothing to their name and nothing under their belt, they might as well be a new start up company.

I like the game and will be playing at launch(also helps that a friend bought it for me so it's not my money) but it's completely understandable for a lot of people to be worried about the future of this game.

Also I know it'll never go away but I hate the type of people who come to forums and think that only positive thoughts and people that are super happy about the game should post anything. Going to the official forum's to voice complaints? Why that's just absurd! Of course if it's the type of thing they don't like however then it's a valid complaint.....

  • @booogieboy oh dude, really. Saying anything or complaining in the slightest gets people so mad and give you the "youre an entitled c**t" its horrible. Sometimes you get decent discussions tho, but every now and then you have some s********s who have the audacitiy to respond to every argument with "are you a developer? can you make it better? no, then s**u. they can do whatever they want". You find the same mentalitiy in politics, at work etc.

  • @gholin Ubis looks worse, waaaay worse imo. The canonballs look more like missiles and the way you command, its more of a halo wars kinda game.

@IvoryDoll is that really an argument tho? Just bc you can spend hours doing nothing in a game doesnt make it great for me. Dont know how to feel about this. Like i know people who have tons of hours in a game, but just from sitting in social space or whatever and actually doing something else.

  • @virginiaulme20 to each their own. I've had more fun in the 120 hours in this beta than I've had in the last 6 games I've purchased. This game is all about making what you want of it:

    *want to kill some pirates
    *want to do grog races
    *want to get some booty
    *want to gather a fleet
    *want to kill some skeletons
*want to get drunk and puke all over
    *want to explore the seas
    *want to steal someones ship
    *want to play some music
    *want to go swimming
    *want to have sniper contests
*want to talk to people on the ferry
*want to kill your friends with gunpowder kegs
*want to.....the list goes on and on

This game is what you and your crew make of it. If you think it is boring then use your imagination and some creative thoughts. You can literally do just about anything you want to in SoT and all the while have a blast learning about your crew. Go make your SoT story there are plenty.

  • @virginiaulme20

Dude, I don't know about you but when I am bored with a game I don't play or sit iddle into it hundreds of hours. I go and search a good one.
