Sea of Thieves - PC Tweaking

  • Greetings,

For the past days I have been playing with some settings in Nvidia Control Panel, in order to make the game run better. After a few tries, I stumbled upon a set of settings that allowed my game to run on Mythical, between 30 and 50 frames and to still look amazing. Keep in mind that my PC is not a beast chuckles .

Without further ado, here are my current settings:

    • First, go to NVIDIA Control Panel
    • Secondly, go to Manage 3D Settings
    • Afterwards, click Program Settings
    • Next, Select a program to customize and scroll in the list until you find Sea of Thieves Closed Beta

Now, you need to set the following:

    • Anisotropic Filtering to 16x
    • Antialiasing - Mode to Enhance the application setting
    • Antialaising - Setting to 8x
    • Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization to Off
    • Texture Filtering - Negative LOD bias to Clamp
    • Texture Filtering - Quality to High Quality
    • Texture Filtering - Trilinear optimization to On
    • Triple Buffering to Off
    • Vertical Sync to Off

  • @eredhar Curious if this will be much different in the live release

  • You probably won't find that this will improve performance that much.

    • Anisotropic Filtering - Very little performance impact
    • Anti Aliasing - Large Performance Impact. If you are struggling with performance, set this to Override, and lower it. On smaller resolutions, you'll see jaggies, on larger resolutions, not as much. Make a balance. 24" 1080p monitors (most common), you'll probably find that 4x works best. But the AA in game seems to work fine (though not sure what method it is using). Just remember - lower for higher performance, higher for lower performance, but less jaggies
    • Texture Filtering - Low performance impact, will clamp textures to make them sharper, might look strange on larger resolutions.
    • Triple Buffering - Only works with Vsync On
    • Vsync - Massive Performance Impact. My advice is to force this off in game, don't touch nvidia control panel with this setting, and limit your FPS to your monitors refresh rate to help reduce tearing
  • nice thread thx maybe some new tips ?
