Sorry to Discriminate, But I Won't Play w/ Children

  • Anytime I hear a juvenile voice or observe silly juvenile actions (playing music endlessly, shooting and swording random stuff on board the ship, etc.), I simply find another game.

Tried sitting at the Kiddy Table once or twice, and lost my appetite both times.

    Cheers.

  • @drayman86 Same. Don't feel bad.

  • MUSIC SIMULATOR!!

  • Definitely more enjoyable when you play with dedicated pirates. :P

  • Sounds to me like your being the child and letting things that small get to you. You have the options to mute everything.

  • Its a game...Lighten up Francis!

  • Hahah xD

    Bye i guess

  • @drayman86
Im with you. Its the worst part about cross play.
I know i sound like the mean man yelling to get off my yard but (Mod Edited) i dont want to play with 8 year olds. Its bad enough playing with adults who act like kids but then to have the endless attention deficit disorder crowd running around screaming, dinging bells, playing music instead of helping, or firing the gun nonstop etc will drive me nuts.
Unfortunately I really like this game so i will play solo to avoid the pita kids but kids and adults shouldnt be mixed but there isnt much you can do.

  • It's the endless need for Children to talk non stop that is annoying. I had one on a boat I swear he asked about 1297445 times where we were heading while I was on map looking for Lone Cove. Then kept Shooting cannon until we were out of ammo ( yes LITERALLY ), because he "wanted to practice". We tossed him into brig, and listened to him whine. Since we couldn't kick him. We all left the boat sailing into a rock and started a new game.

Personally I'm an ol' crusty pirate. Would love to run about with nothing but over 40 players. Old age and Treachery is more appealing than Youth and Skill.

(Mod Edited)...literally. I forgot about the verbal diarrhea. Loved the way you ended the game.

  • I sort of agree with you, but let the kids have some fun. And also don't get frustrated if you crew up and all someone does is get drunk and play music. It adds a bit of quirkiness and humor to the crew.

  • I play with my kids. Granted, they are MY kids so I have a bit of control in the situation. They do get annoying, they have really taken to the grog (I am seriously worried about their college years), ringing the bell and so on. But guess what...at the end of the day, they found treasure, fended off attacking crews, and ...well...made me laugh the whole time. maybe take the time to try to include a kid, give the kid that joins your crew something to do, something to be responsible for. "Hey rugrat, point the main sail into the wind for me, thanks good job". You'd be surprised, if they get treated like an important part of the crew, they just may start acting like an important part of the crew. Thats just my two cents, and yes, there are some little panty wastes out there they simply need to be brig'd. I get it, and I don't disagree. just sayin'...try another approach, you may be pleasantly surprised with the results!

  • Not sure why you needed to tell the world lol. I play with my own kids and they love the game. No bad language or annoying music though. If you don't like kids then yeah don't pay with them. Why start a tread about it? Kids deserve to be able to play as much as anyone. Personally I hate grumpy old guys ruining my kids good time lol (I am a grumpy old guy though so hmmm)

  • Just team up with other adults, it's what I do. Me and the roommates crew our own ship. No adult friends who want to play a pirate game? Could always make some adult friends who want to play a pirate game.

  • @lumpaywk You lay with your kids!? REPORTED! And you encourage paying for kids!!

    Great mistypes...lol

  • can always use the Looking For Group thing. either find a group that meets your requirements or start your own with your own specific restrictions/requirements

    job done!

  • @mattydove74 haha oops some idiot spilt a drink on this keyboard (i'm at work) and now the lpok buttons don't always work (need to be hammered)

hey i was only attacking that mast with my sword to see if wood would get gouged out, the 2nd and 3rd time were just to make sure that, yes indeed it dosn't get gouged :P

  • It is a mixed bag. I have played the game with some great kids who add to the crew, and others with poor impulse control and an inability to grasp the basics of managing resources. It is discouraging to spend part of your time while anchored gathering ship resources only to have them fired from a cannon and eaten as a kid heals from as they practice jumps from the crow's nest to the ship's deck. Giving them understandable goals to focus on and providing encouragement really helps. Maybe make them the supply sergeant and task them with keeping the ship's barrels stocked and the cannons loaded between battles.

  • I am not sure on how to handle this or how to answer. Really...double edged blade here.

Would you want your kids to play with adult stranger you never met on a playground outside without you knowing what they do exactly?

If your answer is no, if you find it "odd" in ANY way that an unknown adult is spending time with your kid in "real life"...how comes you have absolutly no problem with it in a game?

I am not pointing fingers, I am not commenting on spending time with one's own kids in a game !! But I think OP, even if he didnt write any argument on why not...I think he is on the better and safer side.

  • But just being on a ship, looking at the view and playing music is one of the best parts of the game?
