Too many SHARKS!!!

  • @d-drabbz I believe the increase in sharks has to do with thd. I like the increase, and hope they don't change it. Smaller sharks will flee from larger sharks. So it makes sense that we are seeing increased activity. As the beast stirs the smaller ones will flee to more shallow water. They do not need to be nerf'd or spwan changes lowered. We as players need to learn how to adapt our life on the seas to continue our way of life. Bring on tons of new AI threats I say! Have a beast that hunts greifers only, undead that stalk us on shore along side skeletons, flying beasts that can set fire to our sails, Humboldt squid that can grab your feet or treasure and take it to the depths. Add more Rare this game is awesome, we just need more threats other than increased shark activity, and greifers.

Ps. Fix the Krackin please would love to see it under water, and it is pretty easy to kill/escape from now.

  • Crazy! The most I've encountered is two, and they decided to take a bite out of me at the same time while I was looking the other way. I only had a bit of life gone, but was enough to die instantly.

  • Some programmer came back with the sharks from the Beta version of SoT !! 30sec in the water and a shark already appears, we entered a wrecked galleon (4 pirates) and when we left it had 5 sharks!! it was really fun .... only no!!! Almost all of us die ..

  • I love the new sharks. Before no-one feared them, everyone was just swimming in the water as if it was a swimming pool. It's the ocean, it's supposed to be dangerous. It makes for exiting gameplay.👍😍

  • IT'S SHARK WEEK, LOSERS!!

SAY YER PRAYERS, GRAB YER BUTTS, AND HANG ON TIGHT!!!

  • At the moment There are too many Sharks to be stealthy and a sneaky Pirate, but if this plays into the Hungering Deep story that “I dont know what is stirring up the Sharks” I think thats cool.

I dont always want to see tons of sharks instantly as soon as being in the water, but like I said its cool for it playing a part of the Hungering Deep story.

Some Pirates do want to swim and explore under water as well, but right now with all the sharks its really hard to. I guess we will find out if all the extra shark activity is due to the Hungering Deep... There needs to be areas where Pirates can still swim sneaky in the water without every second a swarm of sharks.

  • @oakenosiris yep he is talking about sharks being more aggressive.

  • It's part of the Hungering deep peeps. The sharks didn't start appearing in the numbers they are now until right around the teaser.

But besides that, if this is a matter that stays, im perfectly fine with it and here is why..

    ONE: Nature

Though admittedly great whites don't swarm in the same manner as some shark species, it's not unheard of. And considering the sharks of the Sea of Thieves to be special case, possibly influenced by the cursed nature of the sea, it's shouldn't be dismissed that this subset of great whites exclusive to the sea of thieves would adopted swarming behavior, either due to competition over a clear lack of species hearty enough to sate a GWs appetite, or even perhaps as "protection" against the "greater" beast of the sea.

    TWO: Danger
Sharks should be feared everytime you dive into the water. It should be a risk. Before you didn't fear sharks too much because as long as you had one guy sniping up on deck, sharks offered NO challenge. Now for the first time there are more sharks than there are bullets in any one firing round, and therefore can't be dispensed as easily. This actually makes those shipwrecks a challenge now, forcing a greater number of your crew to take up shark duty while someone gets all the treasure. Those wrecks can sometimes come up with better treasure than even high rank voyages, so they did need more risk-reward anyway. Finally, there is also the matter of ship battles that essentially devolve into "underwater skirmishes" where both crews are diving into the water in the attempt to get an easy boarding onto the enemy crew and those awful underwater skirmishes that happen as a result. The fights should stay on the boats, like it should be. And swarming sharks is a fantastic "soft" limitation on reducing these unnatural tactics while making successful boardings to be reliant on either luck, skill, or ramming, like they were actually supposed to be.

Also fun fact.. ringing the belly wildy for a second sometimes instantly summons a shark swarm even without a player falling into the water. If you have a crew whos abusing the ninja pirate approach to sabotaging your ship this is a good way to essentially generate an area of sharks in the area the bells were rung.

  • Yes agreed,
    please fix

    It's just ridiculous.
For some reason, someone at Rare thought it would be a good idea to spawn 2 sharks per player in the water, one bite takes half of your health and once they start charging there is no stopping them.
You would think that a blunderbuss at point blank in the face would at least stop the charge, but no.
Something definitely needs to be tweaked.

I've swam with and fed real sharks by hand in the Indian ocean. You do NOT ever get that many sharks in one place at one time, not unless it's breading time.

And yea, I know the game isn't 100% reality based but if they devs think this is good for the game, then they can go forth and multiply. :0P
