Closed beta download size, how much bigger will be the final game?

  • Ahoy!
So the closed beta download is up and the size is pretty much the same as Alpha (7.31 GB). I'm really excited to play it again and see what's new. With that being said, I think it's time for Rare to let us know what the full game will have in addition to the content that we'll be playing in the closed beta. I think it's only fair that we know exactly what to expect before we confirm our purchases. I have so many friends that played the alpha and aren't sure about the full game because of lack of info. Waiting for reviews is not ideal as we like to start the game at launch. Buying it without knowing what to expect can result in a disappointment and low Metacritic scores. So dear Rare, I know this was asked a lot, but I think now it's the perfect time to let us know what more can we expect on launch day in terms of content in comparison to the Closed Beta.

    Thanks :)!

PS: I Know Rare stated that they wanna keep few things for launch...but that doesn't really say anything. It could be lots of interesting content, or just a Kraken and a special hurdy-gurdy skin. They need to be more specific or at least tell us about the scope of the additional content. I'm not a troll, just a concerned customer that likes to know what he's buying before he buys multiple copies. :)

  • @captain-surgee Windows Store has it at approximately 20.0 GBs

  • @xxvalicxx Wow! I wonder why is that...

  • @captain-surgee It's probably just an estimate right now. The current beta size on PC is 13.5 GBs.

Well that's generally the option. If you don't want to take a chance on the game, wait until after launch. Read the reviews, watch live streams and then make your choice. Leaving a poor review about a game because it didn't live up to your personal expectations is strange, especially if it's about features that were never announced or confirmed by the developer.

If you enjoy the beta and are ok with 'taking a chance' then pre-order and join us on day 1!

Rare is under no obligation to tell us anything more than they choose, and I'm sure their marketing department has a plan in place already about what information they are going to share and when.

I don't really leave any reviews anywhere at all. I'm just saying there are tons of people who are writing negative reviews because the game didn't meet the hype that the reviewer generated by himself. That hype often is achieved by not being clear about what to expect from the full game (I'm looking at you, Destiny). When no one really knows much about the game (even us, founders who've been playing it for a year) people start to make their own theories about features out of this world and generate their own hype. Best is just to step in and show the game for what it is, than fight against a wave of hate and disappointment post-launch that can bury the studio. Don't get me wrong, I love what Rare has created. I would just hate to see such a beautiful game killed by the hype.

Did I enjoy the game? Yep! It's one of a kind experience. If the final game would be same as beta, would I buy it? Yes, but not for $60. Will I get the game on day1? Yep, because it's coming with game pass! YAY!

  • Full game probably wont be bigger than 10GB.. there isnt a lot of stuff

  • 13,53 GB is the file size from the Microsoft store.

  • @stillcutscene That is the size of the PC Beta. Which we know from what Rare has said, does not include all content and features in the game.

I'm expecting a game somewhere around 20GB to 25GB once all is said and done.

That sounds reasonable. Guess they'll put out some updates over the course of the next two months.
