cosmetic yes that seems fair would be a good way to tell an older player from the fresh meat I would help if lets say a flag that has a symbol would stop a new galleon from well dooming its self and getting flattened by the old sea dogs (yes these are my terms deal with it) or just a reward for those who lost their stuff in the alpha. I mean I would also not mind skins that can only be used once the original item is unlocked e.g the blunderbuss.

@sightlesskombat Alpha members have not been promised a clothing pack, however, there has been talk about an in-game item to say thanks for taking part in the alpha stages.
The clothing pack will stay an exclusive item for those that preordered the game only.
@musicmee Thanks very much for replying so quickly to my post. It's a shame that cosmetics rarely if ever seem to include something that changes audio as well as the visual appearance of the item, but that's just what I'd want to see I guess.

@xdilligafx1974 Fair enough, just saying there are going to be loads of new players joining the community who never knew, i would assume most people will only hear about this recently, otherwise 90% of players will have been a part of the alpha testing which likely not be enough members for a strong enough community (and profits).
Been advertising the game by getting people to watch the trailer and the how ever many minute gameplay video, and I've had loads of mates who never knew about the game at all, obv not breaching any terms of the NDA.
Don't get me wrong I would personally love to get some gear for the efforts. But if I don't, I will be happy enough with the experience of being a part of the development of such a great game. Feel like our input matters and they are listening to those of us who are giving our feedback and doing bug reports.
I can tell your pretty thorough with the time spent invested in something like SoT, but most people tend to be casual players and they'll want the finished product. Happy sailing anyways, been having a blast today and don't want to go to work tomorrow so I can keep on sailing l**o

Lol I support having an in game item to show who is a founder, if you wasnt able to get in then thats on you (anyone, not specifically you) and its not unfair at all...everyone was welcome in the insider program you jus had to signup, the sameway everyone is able to pre order the game...if you don't then you don't...doesnt mean the people who did shouldn't get anything...I got work and a newborn baby and I found time to signup and play, everyone got things goin on but if they really wanted to be a insider then they woulda made it happen...
I can't see the fairness behind having to be present at a specific site while watching a specific program that was not properly mentioned the ability to get a premium in-game unlock, and having watched it (During the peak time of the Final Beta) on the 'wrong' site was enough to disqualify many people from earning a neat unlock... It seems underhanded.
But hey.. Let's merit luck over work, shall we? Lol...
@tre-oni Nothing to do with founders because only pioneers had NDA (by that I mean only pioneers had a big responsability with NDA the last weeks)

Nvm I think you didn't watch the news about pioneers leaking stuff even when they were under NDA etc@orydri I say that because you're wrong about the NDA and who it's affected, and who's been under it.
Tech alpha founders being under NDA for what.. near a year and a half definitely still makes my idea valid, and not restricted to pioneer at all.
Anyone leaking anything is their own problem and fault. Has nothing to do with my point. The NDA exists.
My idea was more a joke item based on a "speak no.. Hear no.. See no.." which fits exactly with NDA for tech alpha AS WELL AS pioneer.
Someone breaking NDA doesn't really change what the NDA is lol
@l2l-havok-l2l To be honest i'm really not fussed. If they decide to add it into the game fair enough. If not, I wouldn't be in the slightest bothered. Just saying that there are those that may not have been aware, i'm sure it is a very easy process of signing up though those who didn't may complain.

True true lol but honestly you snooze you lose, theres plenty of games that I love that I wish I woulda got in early enough...but didn't....people just gotta deal with it
