The progression toward the Skeleton Curse cosmetics currently feels slow and unrewarding, especially for players who spend long sessions in Hourglass without seeing meaningful reputation gains. A more balanced system could introduce two different progression paths: a faster, skill-based PvP track that rewards wins, streaks, and high-ranked sinks (Like the normal Hourglass we see today), and a slower, adventure-focused PvE track that grants reputation through world events and long voyages. This dual-path approach would respect both playstyles, preserve the awarding of the cosmetics, and make progression feel more satisfying overall. Supporting features like clearer reputation feedback, milestone bonuses, and small daily or weekly challenges would help ensure the system feels fair, transparent, and engaging for the entire community.
Reworking Skeleton Curse Progression / A Dual-Path Progression Proposal
I don't think there needs to be nor should there be a PvE track for the curses. They are intended to be hourglass rewards.
They'd be better off continuing to devote time into removing pain points that make hourglass less enjoyable. Reworking how allegiance is earned, more variants like Last Ship Standing, etc.
