Did you load in yourself or with the customserver of a friend?
On day one I started my own server on custom seas and invited my friend to it, the deed then counted for me but not for my friend.

The Devs screwed up. to fix it just red sea your ship and when you take a mermaid your ship spawns and it counts. CheerS!
