Feedback on the recent direction of Sea of Thieves

  • Dear Rare Team,
I have been a dedicated Sea of Thieves player for many years, and I'm writing because I feel deeply disappointed by the direction the game has taken over the last two seasons.
First of all, I feel that these seasons have brought very little truly new content. Much of what has been added feels like recycled or reworked existing features rather than exciting new adventures. As a long-time player, I was hoping for something much more ambitious.
I am also disappointed that so much of the recent content has focused on the new staged missions. Personally, this type of gameplay does not appeal to me and doesn't capture the freedom, exploration, and unpredictable adventures that made Sea of Thieves so special in the first place.
Another major disappointment is the removal of many cosmetics from the Pirate Emporium. I enjoyed collecting unique outfits and creating my own pirate, but many excellent cosmetics have disappeared without suitable replacements. It feels like players now have fewer choices than before.
I am also disappointed by the changes surrounding Ancient Coins. It feels like they have become less rewarding and less meaningful than they once were, especially when combined with the reduction of available cosmetics.
More generally, I miss the creativity and ambition that earlier seasons had. I would much rather see new world events, new enemies, new voyages, new areas to explore, meaningful adventures, and exciting cosmetics than systems that do not add much to the overall experience.
I am writing this because I genuinely love Sea of Thieves and want to see it succeed for many more years. I hope Rare will listen to the community and bring back the sense of wonder, exploration, and excitement that made so many of us fall in love with this game.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.

Yes, everyone has there own feeling of what appeals to them, but what of everyone else it does?

Also agree with Diving being the main cause.

They did warn players on doing this, but they will be "cycled around" in do time. Something else removed/replaced.

You mean Doubloons? Because ACs are real cash items...

I would much rather see new world events, new enemies, new voyages, new areas to explore, meaningful adventures, and exciting cosmetics than systems that do not add much to the overall experience.

All sounds great, but again we have the other side of players who will say they are also feeling neglected because they dont care for those things.
Rare has a big plate, and only so much room to fill it. Can't make everyone happy.

I hope Rare will listen to the community

I wish they wouldnt as much. Because everything you mentioned so far has been what the "Community" wants/needs/demands. Of course when Rare does something, it never actually what they wanted...but it still the so-called community's fault for the changes and wants.

I miss the days when stuff was added as a surprise. TT Pirates life, for example.
