Blunderbuss buff

  • This weapon no longer has any purpose being in the game. It needs either to be re buffed or removed. Personally I feel like the complaints about its power weren't meaningful. Having played Arena a lot when it still existed and doing PvP frequently nowadays, it is useless now. The range at which it reliably 1-hit was very short, and while the pellets knockback triggering at 2 or so to hit is frustrating, that isn't what got nerfed. The blunderbuss is a pain to fight when it 1-hits but it also functions in this instance as a possibility for (namely newer) players to be able to fend off crews better than them. Likely that those crews also run a blunder, but it was never a skill based weapon to begin with. Blunderbuss needs a buff placing it back to where it used to be.

  • No meaning?
If I’m able to blast someone off my ship with a single use, or prevent boarders. That enough got me.

No need for single one hit kill wonders.

Blundy is fine. EoR needs work. The scope is frankly sketchy, does WAAAAAY too much damage, and isn't exactly accurate to the time period (don't get me started on historically accurate) but they did come in 1854, but the timeline is about the late 1600s or early 1700s AKA the golden age of pirates. so shouldn't be there. Maybe just call it a very accurate smokeless (smokeless???? Nuh uh. Those things took a while to clear) rifle with a spyglass strapped on top. Frankly, the blundy SHOULD do more damage, but to keep the game clear of griefers and PvP warlords, they had to nerf it. WHAT I WANT, is a bayonet. That'd be useful. They have pistols, swords, blowpipes, grapples (NOT INVENTED YET) snipers, but no normal long range riffle. Sad. Maybe a shoot feature plus a charge attack. not much damage tho

  • @zdragonson as long as headshots don't exist and other weapons have no one hit kill mechanic the blunderbuss should definitely not gain that power back.

The blunderbuss used to be the only weapon that had 2 superpowers, it was the only gun with knockback and the only one shot kill weapon.

This last part was an issue for multiple reasons:

    • the wonky hit registration and all issues surrounding it made it that at one point you had to have the barrel in the belly button of the opponent to get the one shot off and then when a bit of lag was introduced it one shot killed someone from half a galleons length away (issues with this can still be noticed with how inconsistent the knockback is, sometimes one pellet sends you 10 miles away and other times a 100% hit doesn’t even move someone an inch

    • the ability to keep reloading a gun when jumping or getting struck by f.i. A sword made the blunderbuss even more powerful in combination with the one shot.

That the blunderbuss was problematic was obvious because there basically wasnt a single PvP focused player that didn't run blunder + EoR because of the sheer stopping power.

And only since its nerfing doe we really see other combo’s at sea, pistol snipe, pistol blundy, blundy blowdart even.

    No longer a single Meta

  • @snugplayer18335 dude... this is a magical pirate game. Idk what you expected

  • @ItzEggward Yeah, but a sniper in a pirate game is like the concept of cowboy vs aliens

  • @snugplayer18335 yeah, cowboys versus aliens. Sounds fun.

  • @ItzEggward ...meaning it doesn't really work

  • @zdragonson
the blunder didn’t need to get gutted like this. it used to have a clear role. Close range delete button. If someone let you get that close it was on them. Now it just feels inconsistent and kinda pointless compared to running sniper or pistol.

People complained about getting one-blundered but the range where that actually happened was tiny. You basically had to be hugging the other player. That’s not broken. That’s just bad positioning if you die to it. The knockback pellets are honestly more annoying than the damage ever was.

Also the blunder used to be one of the few things that let newer players actually defend themselves when someone boards. A lucky one-blunder could save a fight. Now half the time you land the shot and the guy just eats it and kills you anyway.

It was never some super skill weapon but that was kinda the point. It had a clear niche. Right now it just feels like a worse option than everything else
