Sea servers?

  • So i love the game but I have a busy life usually when I play its only for a couple of hours. Sometimes I can progress but mostly I get trolled. I dont get sunk just killed until I manage to fight off the other player. I dont like being made to fight. Look I think a addition of a payed server model where you can play by yourself or just with friends each having your own ship would be cool. And if done right could enable awesome role play. I just want to chill in the game while still being able to progress.

You can already play by yourself (or with a crew) in Safer Seas.

They talked about adding paid Custom Servers, which will also include a way to set sail with friends on other ships.

  • So addendum. I now realize they are doing paid service but you don't be able to progress any faction or earn gold???? Like why. There is no benefit to strangling the ability to progress in a game that people enjoy and are tired of toxic players. Please rare devs. Please. Allow us to progress our factions. A solution is that there is no cap but your reputation is nerfed. Like 50% but you can still get to level 999 in any faction? So like reputation gain is reduced to 50% but you can still level all factions to max. I feel like there is a good ground to establish without forcing us to deal with horrible people. I cannot play all day no matter how much I want to sometimes. I cannot put this game over my job and family. Please don't forget that.

  • @lem0n-curry I know. But I want to progress. If I play for weeks only getting gold. What's the point? Half the cosmetics are locked behind reputation progress that you can't earn. You can buy alot of cosmetics but then to buy the rest you have to deal with people that treat it like a call of duty lobby. I just want yo chill with my friends. Why must I be forced to be paranoid that someone will troll me? Im not asking for pve exclusive maps im just asking that progress not be locked in the paid service

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
