General updates I would make for the game.

  • I have been thinking a lot about some of the longstanding underlying issues with sea of thieves. the gold economy's hyperinflation, the lack of reasons to team up with other crews, solo play becoming even harder and PvE feeling stale in general. so today I would like to present a few updates that would, in my opinion, revitalize the game to an extraordinary extent.

Gold needs to be valuable again.
Sea of Thieves was at its peak when everyone chased the Chest of Legends, an item that used to take hours to earn and was worth around 10,000 gold. Now, I can dive to a skeleton fort and make the same amount in about 30 minutes. I get that inflation is inevitable as the devs aim to keep event payouts exciting, but it’s gotten out of hand—175,000 for a painting? Things need to change, so I urge the developers to rethink the loot value of every item in the game.

Bilge rat doubloons need some love-Smugglers are the solution!
Honestly, you have probably heard this idea before, but I want to list it here anyway.

    • Smuggler's loot should give bilge rat doubloons, it would be a helpful feature, and it would give players a reason to participate.

    • Smugglers are the new storefront for the new black market, offering a rotation of old seasonal rewards for high prices of bilge rat doubloons

PvE needs to be challenging again
As a solo player, I get that making PvE accessible for smaller crews is important, but it feels like it’s been dumbed down a bit too much over the past 2-3 years. I love slaying hordes of the undead and scuttling fleets of skeleton ships, but it’s started to feel a bit hollow. From a gameplay perspective, some challenges should be beyond a solo player’s reach, but there should still be other content that makes solo play worthwhile. I propose that the seas become more dangerous, with PvE becoming Harder across the board to a point where certain events would be a death sentence if done alone. this would give players a reason to team up again.

PvE needs to interact with the world more
the reaper forts are a prime example of PvE interacting with itself and the world. whether you are there or not, the Dark bretheren are attacking the fort. we need more things like this as soon as possible. here are some ideas.

When a skeleton ship patrols near an island, it may anchor, sending its crew ashore to explore before eventually returning to the ship and sailing away. Taking out the crew while they’re on land will sink the skeleton ship, but if even one makes it back on board, you’ll be facing a fully aggravated vessel. Skeleton sloops send far fewer forces ashore compared to galleons.

Additionally, skeleton ship patrols are no longer aimless—these ships now passively complete low-tier “skeleton voyages,” traveling with purpose to islands to dig up container chests filled with assorted loot. these are carried back to the ship, teleporting back with the skeletons.

The world Needs to change: secret areas and events
One of my favorite things about Sea of Thieves is the ever-changing world and emergent storytelling. I think it would be awesome to have completely unique events that pop up across the sea, offering extra loot, lore, or even PvE encounters. It would make players pay more attention to their surroundings as they explore. Visiting an island could feel different each time, with the possibility of unique story content like a special riddle, a mysterious haunting, or a hidden rum runner’s stash—unique PvE encounters scattered throughout the game. this would also allow much more room for fun content unrelated to the main story.

    In review:

    Make gold economy balanced
    Make smugglers useful
Make PvE a threat to a point where people often choose to team up rather than PvP
    Make more unique story content

    Thank you for your time!

  • PvE needs to be challenging again

Preach! Can’t tell you how I wish for the EOR skeletons to come back. Or random Skeleton keg

After playing Arc raiders and hearing the dev won’t be adjusting the npc because “they are the threat” made me happy and idc if I die to them. Challenge!

  • @burnbacon man them thangs is mean tho.

I’ve been dabbling as well, it’s like land piracy with VERY mean robots 🤣😂
