Rapier & Heavy Sword - Unique Animations

    I've seen a lot of suggestions to make Rapiers and Heavy Swords their own weapons, but the idea of new weapons and balancing them seems to be an extremely controversial topic. However, I agree that the other sword variants lack something that I feel could make them unique:

    A specific animation depending on what type of sword you're using.

    This would NOT change the speed of the strikes or the damage values either. The idea is simply to give the weapons a fresh coat of paint. Here's my idea for 2 new animations:

    For the Rapier

    • Thrusting/stabbing animation mixed into the 2nd swing, the other 2 being more elegant looking slashes
    • Animations could feel stylish and elegant, fitting the fantasy fencing style often seen used with Rapiers in media
    • Wrist, body rotation, and especially footwork will really make this animation shine

    For the Heavy Sword

    • Purely heavy slashing, maybe a pommel strike mixed in, but I'm not sure how viable that would be to implement
    • Not so big it feels like a Dragonslayer or Buster Sword, but big enough to where it feels more like a mix of a cleaver and an ax.
    • Sparks flying on an enemy block could be a neat way to indicate the power of a strike

    In conclusion, this would be a very tiny change, but I think it would be a nice road to introduce new weapon animations and/or styles. A default sailor heavy sword and default sailor rapier would be sick too.

  • I think another huge issue with making different swords have different stats is that people like using specific swords, and if they change how each model works based on what it looks like, they would end up making a lot of people force themselves to use a sword they don't like the look of as much to get the stats they want.
