Option to remove traps from throwables

  • Traps have a time and place, although personally I'm not big on tuck style plays as I don't have the patience but I find that I can't ever afford to carry them. I have throwables bound to a button so I can quickly get follow up damage to confirm a kill before a player can eat. I never want to pull a trap out in this instance and need to cycle. So as a result while I might use them otherwise, the potential odd fun play with them isn't worth the risk in closer fights.
I would rather they just be on the wheel so any use of them is deliberate and time specific. For angone that disagrees I suggest it be an option and not forced.

Edit to add they have already been separated in terms of no longer taking up space from 5 throwables so don't think this is a massive step from that

  • Why are you carrying traps (2) if you don’t plan to use them??

  • I'd be happy with that. Treat it like a cooked merfruit. I would like to use traps more often, but the current way the hot key works makes it less practical. I generally want blunderbombs fast, so pulling out a trap instead can be a disaster. When using traps, I am usually not in that much of a hurry, and have time to deliberately select it.

    “Just in case.”

  • My use of traps at the mo is limited to i kill someone, I loot their barrels and find it amusing to place a trap on their anchor then tuck.
Someone else had a great idea that they should have been more linked to boars. Place food in them, maybe extra damage to boars. I daresay some comms linked but it would be frustrating trying to lure them into it 😅

  • Fully agree with this. I understand that traps are technically "throwables" in terms of the mechanics, but the situations you use them in are completely different to other throwables.

  • @hiradc Agreed. Hotkey to get a blunderbomb and getting a trap in a situation when you need a blunderbomb immediately is terrible.

I'd say that I'd love a small HUD for cycle-able hotkeys that showed which one was next in rotation (like weapons, throwable, food), but people seem to hate HUD stuff for this game.
