  • You mean you had 2 hours worth of stuff or you outran them for 2 hours?

The way to make chasing pretty irrelevant is to sell regularly and run to achieve the win condition. Never run just to run unless you truly enjoy running.

If progress matters then play for progress and don't attach to a server. Then you can get your progress somewhat consistently and can move on from situations you don't enjoy easily.

Inefficiency and getting stuck on frustration is gonna prevent way more progress than players ever will.

  • @wolfmanbush
No it was 2 hour in total of them destroying our ship over and over Wed get like 3 to five chest and then bam they show up steal our loot we were just letting them take it we are not pvp players we don't care for it we understand it's part of the game but we don't find it fun we'd rather just sail around grab a small amount of loot and sell it the fact that 4 player are going around taking on solos or groups of 2 is stupid

You could safer seas if you want a break from it.

In your situation a duo could give you just as much of a problem. So the 4 v 2 thing seems rough but any hostile ship with some experience will do the same thing in the end.

  • @wolfmanbush
I get that. But for 2 hours just targeting smaller ships is pretty dumb if 6ou got that many people wouldn't you go for other player who are trying to pvp like say other 4 person ships wich are marked on the map

  • @wolfmanbush as burritos crew in that fight I can tell you we had just sold and did 2 order of souls and 1 skele ship, we were not up long before they came for us again and even after we told them to take the loot we just wanted the emissary quest we were working on getting up to they kept killing us over and over and blew up the ship even after saying they woukd leave after taking the loot. These players that hit us were griefing us, yes I get we had some loot, I get its part of the game, but they went out of their way to ruin that session for us and that's what we are call out. These guys also hit our skele fort we had just barely completed and guess what, that's all we had done so far that session was fast travel there and get the the end before they rolled up and took the fort, I get it's part of the to a degree but this crew were griefing us the second time they hit us.

There are def crews with the mindsets that lead to targeting smaller ships/crews but in general the adventure servers are full of sloops in current SoT. People kinda just gotta go with whatever action they can find if they don't have all day to play.

It's the player sometimes but it's more the game. Not a lot of challenging fights out there for an experienced brig or galleon crew, smaller/casual crews just get caught up in the -wrong place, wrong time- of it all.

  • @wolfmanbush ok but that's what is kills game like this for new players, my buddy barely has been playing 3 or 4 days and isn't experienced in the slightest in the pvp and having a full team of Pirate legends who probably no lifed it to hell and back ruins it for players like that.

It can be frustrating early on but a lot of experiences are tough early on.

Safer seas is seriously a good spot for people that don't wanna pvp. It's not gonna prepare you for pvp but it will let you play and earn some progress without the pvp.

  • @wolfmanbush I do get that but Safer Seas also cuts your rep and gold earned and I have a ship I captain and we can't use that in safer seas, it's hard to want to go that route when you lose access to allot of rewards/rep

  • @wolfmanbush that and I'm a launch player so all I'm all I get it, I've seen some of the worst of it but I stopped playing awhile ago and just got back into it with my buddy and this experience was enough to make me reconsider the game again which sucks as I do enjoy this game

We ultimately control what kind of vibe we allow on our vessels, in that we control the direction we take with our mindsets about the game.

There was a time that I was far too driven in SoT. Piled expectations on top of obligations and none of them ever really existed. They were just made up and I think I caused the experience to be more intense and unpleasant than it really needed to be.

I always try to look at what is going on and think about how I can change or improve what I am doing so I'm more prepared to get on through whatever happens around me.

In this game it really boils down to a few things.

Most importantly, don't look for reasons to dislike or push against other people. Life is too short to spend time on that. People pirate, gameplay is just gameplay. Rarely needs to go beyond that.

Maybe you make 10 million, maybe you make 50, maybe you make 150. Doesn't really matter much, you're gonna be a millionaire in the game if you keep playing. How much of one you are just really doesn't change much.

Maybe you unlock 10% of everything or 50 or 75% of everything when all is said and done. You can only use one shipset and only wear one outfit. Having piles of stuff covered in dust won't really make things that much better.

Stuff that happens in adventure is all part of adventure. The good is good because it's not always good. The bad is temporary because there is always something good in life, and the ugly is how we gain perspective and experience.

We get to choose how we handle adventure and the loss in a game is never as bad as real losing.

Stick with it. You said you enjoy it. That means there is still something out there for you.

“We have lives, we also spent two hours defending loot that we admittedly didn’t care about”.

In other words, you’re upset you sunk in the pirate game.

  • @capt-greldik
Your argument states I'm upset about sinking I don't care about that these players were intentionally greifing so much so they were repairing our ship just to kill us when we spawned back I I really don't care about the lost loot it's part of the game I get that. You wanna be a toxic player that's just stupid people have different ways to enjoy a game and as I've been playing for like 4 days now. Yeah it's kinda upsetting to see such toxic players. If your going sink someone sink them not sit there and wait for them to spawn.

  • @capt-greldik
The ONLY thing I'm missed about is the fact toxic playe4 like that exist and you wanna back them. Probably cause you go around doing the same thing

  • @burrito4king

If players are repairing your ship so that they can continue killing you, they’ve broken the rules. No need for a forum post, just report them. The title of the post I’m replying to implies that you’re not okay with 4v1 or 4v2.

You sunk in the pirate game and came here to post. Why? Also, if someone decides to camp you; there’s sometimes (not always) a reason. Did you provide a reason? Victim blaming is one thing, victim creating is another.

  • The whole game is based around treasure and treasure is what everyone wants. It's something you need to get use to in SoT.

You have it, someone else will want it. SoT is a open play style of game, some people like to do quests, some like to do fishing and others like to hunt players. Its what's great about SoT.

You should jump in Safer Seas and practice on megs and skeleton ships etc, learn to work together etc. Learn how to use the boat as crew.

Best way to stop a boat from chasing is to fight back, have players randomly jump of your boat and try to anchor their boat, use tools on islands to slow them down etc. There's lots that can be done.

Like below, we were being chased... I jumped off at an outpost and used the island harpoon to fully crash a ship. There's heaps more things that can be done, use island cannons, grab kegs etc.

My crew have been hunted by the whole server quite a few times in the past, High Seas can be hard sometimes.

    Get creative!

  • Go Safer Seas or stick to Devils Roar
Both places are areas you either won’t meet other players or nobody goes too

No they would go for the people with the most loot.

    Pirates.

  • It’s a pirate game called Sea of Thieves. Players will steal your treasure. If you don’t like that concept, you bought the wrong the game. Alternatives? Safer Seas, adapt to your surroundings and watch your horizon, or play another game.

  • @tesiccl yes my friend and I understand that and I agree safer seas is better for the newer players and some of the others here helped explain allot of this(and the title is a bit misleading and not worded the best) I think you missed put comment about them not just killing and taking our loot(which is part of the game we get) these 4 players were repairing our ship and spawn killing us after we stopped attacking and told them they could just take the loot, this went on for about 10 mins before we took a break. I don't care that we had other players do exactly what the game is about, it's that they went out of their way to grief us, while I have played the game before and understand it better than newer players, my point is this kind of behaver makes the game unplayable for people who dont understand everything about safer seas, I just came back myself and didn't understand all of what safer seas was all about till others helped explain it here and in game, my friend has been playing not even a week and told me if he didn't have someone to go back into the game he would have probably Uninstalled the game.

What you just described is already against the rules. If players keep your ship afloat simply to continue killing you, report them.

  • @capt-greldik I looked up how and the only info i could find was report them through xbox so I did.

  • @soke-altiar you’re right, I did miss that part. If players are repairing your ship to stop you from sinking and killing you repeatedly, that is called spawn camping. You can report that directly to Rare here. Hope this helps!

I get what you're saying man. Some people just like to argue for whatever reason. I agree, it's annoying when people chase you endlessly or what... a few thousand gold. Even if you dumped the loot they'd chase you because these kids have nothing better to do. Next time try Disney skipping to a new server.

  • @sparkiebeard

Sometimes people hunt for ships because they are bored. It’s just part of the pirate game.

  • Scuttle to a different server.

  • You’re wasting you time here. I’ve had it since launch and it’s always been a one way street towards pvpers and trolls. 6 to 7 year argument that I predicted will kill the game and it’s started to go down. My prediction was right five years ago. They have already lost player base dramatically in the last couple months. It’s kinda funny because eventually no one will get to play the game because they will have to shut down. Can’t run servers without income. It’s kinda tilt for pleasing here. If rare would have giving pve players a little bit more respect than saying get good or sail the bunk seas is what i call it, then they would be standing better today than what they are. Not my game it’s theirs. So you’re wasting your time here. Just let the game die and there will be better ones in the future. Jump ship is about to come out try looking into that one. I’m in business banking and you can’t just please one customer base and not the other. Especially since pve people outnumber pvp people by far it’s ridiculous. It’s a money math game in to end it’s up to them how much they wanna spend. They are already talking about hiring even more people to eat up their money to try and make the game “better” lol. Let’s be real here. You’ve been giving that answer for 6 years you just chose to stubbornly ignore it RARE. That’s facts. Anybody that responds to this negatively or positively, I really don’t care and I probably won’t see it. To all the pve people stop wasting your time here, nothing will be done. This is such a dismissive take that people spread around that I personally think it's disrespectful to how much effort they have put towards casual "I want to win" gameplay.

Direction of the game is leaning away from pirate dinosaurs like me. A small group of adventure players that strongly oppose cheesy designs/metas.

It's very much becoming better for casual pvers that don't prioritize the same things.

If someone wants a lot of reward and a lot more winning than the past then this is very much an improving environment for people like that. And there is nothing wrong with that, I think my views are right but there is certainly nothing "wrong" with people seeing things differently. Just a game at the end of the day.

The two groups in SoT that have been getting nothing but dub after dub are pvp server hoppers and pve reward enthusiasts.

We are day 1 into literally the most lucrative event that has ever happened in SoT. After a year of non stop reward being handed out. They are constantly adding padding for people that take losing a encounter/fight/loot in a negative way.

That's what people really want, the reward. The "we want pve" criticism and defeatism is never coming from the group that just avoids and leaves pvp and moves on. It's always the people that don't want to lose at all.

People that want a lot of pve reward should just take the win. The game is catering to them regularly.

  • "I predicted this game would die 6 years ago, and look, I'm finally correct!"

    Good grief...

LOL, says game is dying yet maintains the same approximate position in most played games on the Xbox ecosystem from launch, consistently among the top 30 most played games on the platform (quite a feat when you look at the other games they are competing against). You false claims only make you look foolish and do not garner the rep for your position like you think it does. People been saying this for 7 years now, and they (like you) have always been wrong. You are on the wrong side of the argument here.

I don’t think you really know why sot has less players than it did at launch. As a “business banking” man, you should understand that having the data is necessary prior to making some kind of conclusion. From my perspective, this is a 7 year old game that has less players than when it began, much like perhaps every 7 year old game to have ever existed. I’m sure there are some exceptions.

I’ve been part of big groups in online games over the many years I’ve been gaming, and they’ve all been PvP focused. I have full discords of gamers that I can tap into, but guess what, even though they’re all pvpers none of them will play sot with me. Their reasons are because it’s “janky” or that it feels too hollow since it’s primarily a cosmetics game, and I don’t necessarily disagree with them. It took me a few sessions to get over the fact that the only tangible reward in the game is cosmetics, and I think that janky is an accurate description for many things in the game, lol. I did have one friend give it a real shot, he played fairly regularly with me for about two weeks, but eventually became annoyed with random bugs, how the shooting aspect felt, and hackers… it was season 9 and people were flying around dropping kegs.

So here’s a whole gang of pvpers that I’ve tried to get to play but they chose not to, and it sure isn’t because of an aversion to PvP. Perhaps there’s more to a 7 year old games declining population than you getting sunk in the pirate game?

I never understand this mentality. This is a game where literally everything is meant to be fought over. Big clouds in the sky, markers on the map, maybe just try playing the game as it’s intended? SoT requires some competition versus humans, and humans are harder than computers. It’s an online game, after all.

I'm in a couple big discords also with a lot of gamers who play a lot of first person shooters etc, most are playing single player shooters or playing on self hosted co-op games now, mainly because they are sick of cheaters and players using macros etc. Most of them also hate games which allow you to jump around like a manic non stop, which a lot of fps games have now and rely on for combat.

There's only three of us who play SoT regularly, the ones who have tried SoT mostly quit after three or four games due to the player vs player aspect, hand held guns/combat etc. They all love the boat combat and battles with cannons and doing missions etc. But the player combat is what puts them off.

I have done call outs for players to join us in our discords but bad experiances from past gaming in this game just puts them off.
