@luciansanchez82 I would be over the moon, mate. They've talked about doing a Kraken update for some time now, and if this is truly it then I'm beyond excited.

That'd be pretty sick. Especially if it's actually a battle like the new megs and rewards HC loot and stuff

@sweetsandman Right?! And it would make complete sense, as we have a new Kraken loot item. How crazy would it be, if the Kraken rework was always planned behind the scenes, and they just shadow dropped/teased it with this image, and then it releases in one of the subsequent seasonal updates.

@valor-omega Would also be one hell of a surprise drop for the Anniversary 👀👀👀👀

This would be an absolute W and absolutely fitting with the work they did this season

@lleorb Lorewise, there's numerous Kraken out in the world - Old Mother spawned multiple. How crazy would it be if we not only got this new fight, but got new variants as well?

I was so happy with the new megs, because they finally brought a bit more difficult PvE stuff to do on the sea. New (and possibly a few stronger) Krakens would spice things up even more.

It’s just the kraken body being shown, not the first time they’ve done this with assets. Personally, I’d temper the hype.

@tesiccl It's a bit odd though, don't you think? They've never showcased the Kraken's body in any sort of advertisement or marketing asides from the APL trailer. Why now? And why spend the time taking the model, posing it in that way out in open water, battling ships? Seems to me that they could have just as easily showcased the new highlight features of Wild Things.

yea they did a teaser video on youtube claiming krakens would happen more often and showed a kraken up in the world at the same time as ashen winds...... but kraken is a world event. only 1 world event can be active at a time. so the implication was oh maybe the kraken can now spawn randomly like megs..... nope its still just on the world event rotation. thank goodness though i like it that way.

Less chance of a Burning Blade that keeps the Kraken away for a long time, will have the effect of more Kraken.

@valor-omega I suspect this is part of the dynamic wallpaper/s they’ll be releasing shortly that highlight scenes within the game. Animating the kraken like that would make perfect sense for something like a showcasing wallpaper to celebrate the anniversary. Highly doubt it’s some sort of tease for future content.

@valor-omega They literally have Ashen Stronghold loot items teased but those haven't made it into the game yet so I wouldn't expect anything of it.

@captain-wolf348 More than fair - though I feel like loot items would be far easier to introduce than a full-scale WE rework.

This is a marketing image. That's it. It's the same Kraken model from the Sunken Kingdom tall tale. The limbs are already part of the model itself, they just had to pose it like that for a still image.

Remember the pirate standing on the Barnacled Dread on the season 15 title image? For some unholy reason, people also thought that was Sea of Tease about being able to ride megs???

This is just a usual thing. The marketing team has cool assets they can use, and they do so. This isn't the first time they have done this, and it won't be the last.

So... to answer your question, it is neither Sea of Tease or developer trolling. It's just marketing. Temper your expectations.

I'm aware this reply might seem somewhat confrontational, but that is not the intent. I'm just stating that this is just a standard thing marketing teams do, including other games and even other media.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is just a bit of creative license! I would love us to do a Kraken update (of course, getting the head in the emergent version would be cool) but nothing in the works right now!

It’s nice that Mike replies to these things instead of letting the rumormill run away with it. I figured it was just the art team being creative, similar to when they showed the kraken up at the same time as a world event in the pre season promotions one year. People took that and ran, even Falcore said it would be possible in one of his videos. Turned out to just be the art team being creative.
