Im sick and tired of having a nice fight in hourglass and then being attacked by some no life galleon who is desperate for easy pickins. Make it so we get a private server or border around the fighting space so others cant third party.
Being attacked by different ships mid hourglass match
What makes it sustainable in HG is that so few boats are interested in an HG match.
There is no built in pressure on a random HG match
then it has to be in an area near other boats
then it has to be a boat that cares about an HG match (not that many people)It's mostly too rare to hurt the content much and there isn't much they can do about it anyway while keeping it in adventure.
Bigger boats showing up for easy dubs can be annoying but it's just gonna happen sometimes.

Fight back? Maybe get the other ship to team up? Idk...You signed up for PvP, and when you actually get it...your upset?

Part of an Open World.
@burnbacon I signed up for a fair fight and out of the 5 times its happened to me ive always tried making friends but my boat seems to get targeted first, not saying I always lose to it, 3 out of the five time I still won the match but its still a little annoying that one side has some unfair advantage. Idk if that makes sense.
@fishyboi424242 You signed up for PvP on demand against a ship/crew of your own size.
That is what you got. 2 ships in a circle fighting PvP.
One Wins, one Loses.
That is all.
Hourglass takes place in normal, Adventure servers. Anything else is fair game. It is still an open-world PvEvP game.
I signed up for a fair fight
Its all Fair in Open World, and who to say the other ship didnt have like...50 curse balls and was stationed at a Fort, using its tower cannons? Is that still fair?
Out of the 5 times its happened to me
Having another ship attack both ships or just you?
little annoying that one side has some unfair advantage
Still the scene plays. One hand, you got unlucky and the other ship joined against you. Other hand, what if they joined you. Would you still of attacked the other ship? Or not.
Thing is, Hourglass is not a 1v1, not advertised like that. Its Instant pvp, you found pvp and little extra came with it.
Remove Hourglass, and what you got? Same thing.@look-behind-you i dont know how I feel about a deckhand stirring up the argument in this situation....
I mean I'm not sure what the limitations are on deckhands getting involved in arguments i know you all can moderate the posts but it feels weird seeing one jump into the debate and adding to it
I don't think I've seen it before
Make it so we get a private server
No. Hourglass is not a 1v1 mode. It's an quick-find PvP option.
or border around the fighting space so others cant third party.
No. Once again; Hourglass is not a 1v1 mode. It's a way to quickly find a PvP fight with an interested opponent in the same open world as everything else.

No you didn't. You are not being matched with someone with the exact same supplies and with the exact same skill level. For a fair match, that has to be the case, but it isn't.
You signed up for a PvP-on demand match against another ship on the high seas. That includes the risk of being attacked by a third party, a kraken, a megalodon, skeleton ships, cannons from islands, volcano's and the risk of being put in the storm or in the mist.
So don't say you didn't sign up for the chance that someone third party you, you did, since that risk is in that tool and Rare deliberately put it there. You should have known that.@fishyboi424242 said in Being attacked by different ships mid hourglass match:

That's the consequence of you trying to contact that ship i would say...

Just like one side could have an unfair advantage due to the skills levels of the players involved, or the supplies that both ships have. Or even the exact spot they spawned into... Hourglass simply has some build in unfairnesses, wich are intentional. Just like it's intentional that a GH-emmissary has the unfairness of having a chance of being attacked while doing a fault (and either lose their ship or the fault), etc.
Crazy Idea that I don't even support but I'm just going to say it here... In order to avoid 3rd-party fights, fighting a ship in a false alliance, etc... Then just enable hourglass in Safer Seas? Before & After the hourglass fight, you're still a solo ship on the server and it does outright fix all these problems that people dislike but it also gives them the other limitations (hourglass maybe enabled but Reaper's Bones & Athena's will still be disabled and also no emissary at all, so you're just getting hourglass only progression from doing this), and also gives them a limitation of what pool of players they will go up against too since you need to be going up against someone whom is also queued in hourglass on their own Safer Sea server.
But like I said, it's a crazy idea that I don't support at all but it's the only idea I can think of which can "fix this issue". Personally, I think hourglass mechanically is fine as it is right now. The issues with hourglass is the lack of players, hackers, and other misc issues related to matchmaking. The sandbox nature of it is just normal Sea of Thieves gameplay that should be expected.

He was simply pointing out the FACT of the matter, not stirring any pot as you claim. They are also allowed to express their opinion on matters.
Rare is on the record as saying 3rd party interactions are fine and even by design in the Hourglass battles. @Look-Behind-You has merely echoed what Rare has stated regarding this non-issue. Just because you don't like the answer does not mean he was "stirring up the argument" as what was said aligns with the official stance on the topic.
@loowee-stew It is not an arena style battle and you are not guaranteed a "fair" fight even if no one interferes. If it were, everyone would have the same supplies starting out to begin with. Hitting that Hourglass does not remove you from the other players you signed up to fight when you hit the "Set Sail" button to start your session.
@dlchief58 i never said I didn't like the statement or that I had something against it at all that was an assumption on your end
I was just questioning whether or not deckhands could engage in arguments like this and add to it
I find it very difficult that this can be solved, and for me this is not the main problem, there are many ways for external elements to interfere with PVP... the main problem for me is actually how punishing a defeat is, being on 10 streaks and losing to a random ship, a powder keg, an island cannon or anything else... while you don't even get 1/3 of the xp in these streaks is something serious in the hourglass.
This feeling of injustice or wasted time would be much less if a loss gave at least half the xp of the current streaks or 1/3 maybe. This would also encourage players to take more risks with longer streaks before resetting.
The laziest possible response. You call yourself a moderator? Don't design a 1v1 game mode in an open world PVP game.
@lezardvaleth131 I didn't design ANYTHING...and Rare didn't design a "1v1 game mode in an open world PVP game".
Hourglass is a tool to find PvP opponents on demand in PvEvP, Open World adventure game.
You are wrong again. Hourglass was a budget band-aid for the failed game mode that was Arena. I did not care for arena but at least it was designed for what it was meant for, being a place solely for PVP without interference.
Then HG replaced it so Rare wouldn't have to pay for the extra servers and, besides cosmetics, have never properly updated it ever since. There have been countless suggestions to fix the most measly of issues and were ignored, as proven by the release of season 15. You could literally spawn into the new megi's and it is beyond your power to prevent aggroing it.
HG offers no benefits to treasures, no reason to not dive and lose the treasure cause otherwise you'll find no match. Yet when you do a 3 minute match turns into a hour long match because a third party decided to just be a bother, knowing full well either ship has no treasure worth a darn except possibly a grade 5 emmi, but even that's a waste of time.
And you just use the same excuse, over and over, as a shield to protect bad game design. Resign yourself.
@lezardvaleth131 Not sure how that proves me wrong (again?) but each to their own I guess. 🤷♂️
EDIT: Just a side note, I can't "resign" from a job you appear to have invented for me but do not have.
@lezardvaleth131
OR... Dont engage HG knowing thats set in an open world if u cant handle the prospect of another player wanting to join in the fun.
Maybe this game is not for you.
