Start appreciating your PvE player base

  • Whilst most PvP players will tell this thread it's a pirate game, the golden age of piracy was probably more a mixture of alliances and looking out for one another. Most pirates who used violence and murdered were hung in Execution Dock, London for their CRIMES. I understand the pirate code was death to a pirate that sexually offend against women. I can't even say the [mod edit] word here because you've banned it, but in your game I have to listen to it........???

Majority of Pirates died of scurvy, whilst my desire to play the PvE side and collect treasure ensures the PvP'ers have something to steal. Not recognising this fact and all of us have experienced toxic language and spawn camp killing, it has ruined the game for loads of PvE loving pirates.

I therefore humbly request Rare to truly consider a PvE game for your customers who find the thought of killing rather abhorrent and disagree it should be included in entertainment mediums like gaming.

Please consider taking us away from being the cannon fodder for toxic gameplay and let us have a world where we can form alliances and friendships, enjoy the vast array of PvE gameplay.
Give us proper safe servers where no damage from other boats and their players have no impact on the humans playing the game. If you can program crews to have no effect on one another, can't be killed or damaged by team mate, you can do it for all the players on a server.
Give us the same rewards and monies for collecting all the treasure and stop using us to fund a few players that walk around the PvE aspect of the game to purely PvP.

Give them the game they want. No point including anything PvE related and let them fight one another until their hearts content.

Allow us PvE'ers to enjoy the game style we like. Unless you take away the difficulties now to solo around the world and constantly put us in a position of pointing out we need to get good at PvP.

We may be very good at PvP but understand it's not my thing, I don't really want to virtually kill anything and unless you can monitor and stop someone from subjecting me to spawn killing and offensive and toxic behaviour, you have no right to expect me to report players for this. It's your game and you have a duty of care to all of us to PLAY with some degree of protection. As a female player, males have told me I will be [mod edit], they treat us like we're there for their enjoyment and say the most despicable things. I can't even type those words here because they are not allowed, yet in your game I have to listen to them on a fairly regular basis, how can you stop me from telling you the words I have to listen to in game.

As some PvP'ers have not taken on board that without those that engage in all the aspects of the game you provide, they wouldn't have anything to steal.

Seriously think about creating PvE servers just for those that will never get good, don't want to get good and do not want to engage in hostile behaviour with humans when enjoying a game.

Please stop the endless commendations that warrant PvP interactions.

Lots of customers don't enjoy the behaviours and game play of the more toxic players. As Developers you should give us what we want and stop pandering to the streamers who need us as entertainment tools for their streams. They are in the minority. I don't think we should be the entertainment for toxic audiences.

Just let us play the game we love in a world where, what we want is allowed to happen. Where I can sail into the sunset without being chased down and shot at whilst they scream and hurl abuse just because they think they can.
Never leave it to me to have to prove that happened, it's your game find ways of listening and banning immediately those that do.

Otherwise give me the game I desire to play in peace and without being used in such degrading ways.

I hope you value us as customers and allow us to play our way, you've certainly taken note of PvP'ers demands and valued them.
Treat us the same please. That way I can choose when or if I want to PvP.

I hope one day I can PvP in world where vile behaviour is simple cut short and removed the minute it leaves their mouths. Until then give me the choice isn't the money I paid for the game as good as the next persons.

  • Pvp has nothing to do with cruelty.

Any cruelty you have faced or seen is not because of a preference of play in a game.

It's unacceptable for people to target people like that and it's also inaccurate and irresponsible to lump a gameplay preference in with that sort of conduct.

Targeting women is cowardly and foul but that exists in all gameplay preferences. Some of the most foul conduct is created by those that prefer pve which is why female streamers that sail around casually starting fights (including as solos) hear that nonsense so often. Even the most passive of gameplay types are sometimes toxic in conduct.

Balance is very important in this game but there isn't anything wrong or neglectful about Rare creating the product that they want to create. They have gone above and beyond to serve pvers over the years. This game is way different than it used to be, in favor of pveing.

  • Rare to truly consider a PvE game for your customers who find the thought of killing rather abhorrent and disagree it should be included in entertainment mediums like gaming.

So you want to remove all violent aspects of the game because “killing”

No more fishing/cooking because why should we harm fish? No hunting or capturing animals because that is cruel and horrible.

No attacking skeletons for there souls. They were once pirates who died by a horrible curse. Leave them be.

Remove the ferry of the damned. Since nobody wil be dying and all story related content to death.

Pirates where also hired by companies like the East india trade company to keep the companies hands “clean”

Majority of Pirates died of scurvy,

Most sailors died of scurvy because they didn’t realise what was the cause, which was simply a lack of vitamin C. When this was found out they used to add lemon/citrus juice to their grog etc and hey presto scurvy prevented

whilst my desire to play the PvE side and collect treasure ensures the PvP'ers have something to steal. Not recognising this fact and all of us have experienced toxic language and spawn camp killing, it has ruined the game for loads of PvE loving pirates.

And they helped with that, while the language is simply reportable and will get actioned, for the players that want to remove the risk of pvp altogether there is safer seas.

However removing the majority of the in game risk temoves the majority of its rewards.

I therefore humbly request Rare to truly consider a PvE game for your customers who find the thought of killing rather abhorrent and disagree it should be included in entertainment mediums like gaming.

It is indeed a different game, because at its core sea of thieves is a pvevp/pvpve game and that will not change.

Please consider taking us away from being the cannon fodder for toxic gameplay and let us have a world where we can form alliances and friendships, enjoy the vast array of PvE gameplay.

They have clarified time after time after time again that a unimpeded PvE gamemode will not come, safer seas is the middle ground.

But why no other pirates in safer seas? ,because it would cost a significant amount of rework to make sure no other pirates can mess with you. It would be simple for me to join a safer seas server and get on your ship and take your most valuable treasure and hold it, you cant kill me so no risk. (Just a small example) i could also keep dropping gunpowder barrels on your ship or dropping them in front of your ship so you run into them.

This additional work would be required for any new features and how would Rare pay for that ?

Additional coding work just to keep a gamemode alive was the main reason why arena ultimately got taken down

Give us proper safe servers where no damage from other boats and their players have no impact on the humans playing the game. If you can program crews to have no effect on one another, can't be killed or damaged by team mate, you can do it for all the players on a server.

    See point above.

Give us the same rewards and monies for collecting all the treasure and stop using us to fund a few players that walk around the PvE aspect of the game to purely PvP.

Even IF they would do that, its a risk vs reward game, remove part of the risk, remove part of the rewards. Hey presto safer seas.

The PvE “complainers” finally got an outreach and got given a hand, now they want the whole arm.

Give them the game they want. No point including anything PvE related and let them fight one another until their hearts content.

You clearly dont know what how the silent majority plays this game… as it was intended some pve some pvp. There is always the vocal minorities that keep complaining about the lack of pve/pvp content

Allow us PvE'ers to enjoy the game style we like. Unless you take away the difficulties now to solo around the world and constantly put us in a position of pointing out we need to get good at PvP.

You purchased a game and are now complaining you dont like the game maybe its just not the game for you.

I dont like battle royale games but love shooters, i dont go playing fortnite BR or Pubg and then keep requesting for them to remove the BR component

As a female player, males have told me I will be rpd, I'm a bh, I'm a we, they treat us like we're there for their enjoyment and say the most despicable things. I can't even type those words here because they are not allowed, yet in your game I have to listen to them on a fairly regular basis, how can you stop me from telling you the words I have to listen to in game.

If this is all that you run into language wise, report and move on OR mute all other crews.

In ANY game where there is online communication there will be people that use that to be toxic, i dont condone that but its just a fact of life.

Also in my experience its usually the people getting attacked and sunk that begin with the abusive language so its not limited to a certain group be it pve or pvp

Please stop the endless commendations/events that force people to be friendly, see it works the same way the other way around, also you have now started to talk in circles.

Lots of customers don't enjoy the behaviours and game play of the more toxic players. As Developers you should give us what we want and stop pandering to the streamers who need us as entertainment tools for their streams. They are in the minority. I don't think we should be the entertainment for toxic audiences.

They are not required to in any way pander to anybody and you are in no way shape or form entitled to a different game then the one you purchased.

They dont pander solely to pvp players and/or content creators.

Every give or take 3 months content is added to the game and some will be more pvp focused whilst others be more pve focused.

Just let us play the game we love in a world where, what we want is allowed to happen. Where I can sail into the sunset without being chased down and shot at whilst they scream and hurl abuse just because they think they can.

    Safer seas

Never leave it to me to have to prove that happened, it's your game find ways of listening and banning immediately those that do.

And it is illegal in most jurisdictions to just listen in on conversations you are not a party in, be it text or speach.

Otherwise give me the game I desire to play in peace and without being used in such degrading ways.

Maybe this game isnt for you

I hope you value us as customers and allow us to play our way, you've certainly taken note of PvP'ers demands and valued them.

As they have the pve players with safer seas and other updates like all the tall tales. As said before some content will be pve oriented others pvp oriented

Treat us the same please. That way I can choose when or if I want to PvP.

    They do and you can

I hope one day I can PvP in world where vile behaviour is simple cut short and removed the minute it leaves their mouths. Until then give me the choice isn't the money I paid for the game as good as the next persons.

They cant because laws exist, thats why they need reports

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
