As we all know, reapers is basically an everything emissary. Another thing we know is it has no voyages/tasks to speed up the emissary leveling (which isn't really a problem because it takes everything) or getting loot. I would propose a "hunt" or search for a ship in your server as long as they're an emissary. The way it could work could be something like any game with bounties (fortnite, call of duty warzone, etc) where its a circle that gets a bit smaller on a limited time that gives you a general idea on where they are (could be shown on mad table), or it could tell you which part of the sea they are in every couple of minutes (the wilds, devils roar, etc) or something to that degree. I personally think that it could POSSIBLY tell you what level they are, just to distinct the feature from just hitting grade 5. The reason i propose this is because ive done reaper for quite a while now, and would definitely like to see some sort of voyage or something, like you would see in any other emissary.
making reaper have some sort of voyage/hunt for other ships.
So lemme get this straight. You get a closing circle on the target? Did I understand that correctly?
What if the target leaves the circle before you find them?
Is the target informed?
Does the circle follow the target?Cause it really sounds like you want the G5 radar bonus from the get go. Not to mention other factions don't require emissary to do voyages, so you could essentially, get radar, without the drawbacks.
Need something different.
The emissary system is the Reaper's voyages.
And no, you don't need the game to tell you where emissaries are from Grade 1. Because that's what you're asking for; A radar to more easily hunt down other players. Also; does the player so marked know they are marked?
What if they leave the server or drop Emissary status? Does the hunt change to someone else, or does the Reaper fail?@pithyrumble said in making reaper have some sort of voyage/hunt for other ships.:

Does the circle follow the target?these questions are answered by taking in the common way it works in the games i mentioned. the circle would follow the target vaguely, the circle is not directly on them as to not give away their EXACT location. it wont close to their exact position, it will still be vague, but would get slightly more specific over time. target would be informed like any other video game with it in it. and they wouldn't be able to leave the circle, because its not a barrier, its a general location that follows them on the map table of whoever would be doing it. any other questions you have, id be happy to answer, i will answer them if i can. Also it was just a suggestion, there is flaws, and it could need something different that what i suggested

While it is true we don't need a marker on where a ship is from grade 1, and it would make it easier. My proposal to counter that would to make it a grade 5 voyage that you get like how you get a few voyages for being grade 5 on any other. it could be a 1 time thing for every time you become grade 5.As i said in a reply to somebody else, It would inform them they are marked. and would probably also be a good idea to inform them how close the other ship (the ship that's hunting them down) is to them.
If they where to leave, id assume it would suck to lose what would now be a emissary 5 "voyage" to somebody leaving, so id assume it could switch to another ship.
Reapers can touch every single thing this game has a loot, and gettin reputation of the flag, so i don't understand the "tasks to speed up the emissary levelling, and if they reach lv5 they can see every ship on the server, so even the prupose of "a ship to hunt" is no-sense.
plus, with all the new diving mechanics, where people can join and leave whenever they want, your target can server merge...
@turtlepogger yea @BurnBacon has a point at most maybe they gain a bounty quest and I gives extra gold that's steal x amount of treasure from another ship or sink x amount of ships(emissary grade 1-5 and non) but no leads or marking a area on the map where players can be found you need to use your wits
There are now a better ways to hunt down emissaries thanks to Diving to Voyages to hop servers and I’ve seen Devs actively encourage that or even doing it themselves.
I believe I saw Andrew Preston on twitter liking/ talking about giving the Reapers a more official voyage that have you dived into a server with 1 or more emissaries sailing.
Would certainly love a more convenient and official way to hunt emissaries rather than spamming GH voyages
The target almost needs to be an non-player pirate, because player pirates can dive and leave the server basically whenever they want. Basically all we need is a re-skin of skeleton ships such that they look like normal ships and are crewed by non-player pirates or phantoms. There can be two even, hunt a non-player sloop and hunt a non-player galleon.
The challenge is it can't confuse other pirates on the server, so to me it makes more sense if the voyage parchment you get just says something like "we have received intel they will soon be digging up treasure near Lone Cove." Then when you get near lone cove the ship surfaces and you just have an on-demand NPP naval battle.
I'd do it. Then you get to grade 5 and hunt by diving as @ButterFinger750 mentioned.
