Game Pass Ultimate vs Steam

  • I need help. Here is the situation; I play sea of thieves with my wife. We recently bought an Xbox One S for her to play on. She doesn't play many games, so we got Game Pass Ultimate on my account because I'm more likely to use it. This worked just fine until one day it kicked her off when I logged on my Laptop. And visa versa if she entered it would boot me. This doesn't make sense since I'm playing with a steam bought title and she is on the Xbox playing with Game Pass. Is there some trick or setting I don't know about? or is Microsoft just Scrooge McDuck?

Submit a support ticket or check the faq's?

Unless her xbox account is somehow linked to your steam account it shouldn't be a problem. We play (me and my 2 boys) play 3 consoles across 2 GP ultimates. (Series x, series s and x1)

I don't know how steam's DRM thingy works for SoT but I'd make sure her account isn't somehow tied to steam. Like you used to take turns playing on the same steam Lic, but different Microsoft Accounts.

  • I answered my own issue. If anyone else runs into this: make sure you sign out of the Xbox before singing in on a PC.

  • @teancom3 do you have the console set to home console (profile with GPU)

  • The problem you are going to run into playing together is the mouse vs controller issue, your wife is going to get owned on PC servers and you can't log into Xbox servers but she can.

  • As OP has found a solution, I'll be dropping anchor here.
